...yesterday was a very emotional day for me. Went through something kinda difficult - the kind of thing everybody faces once in a while.
But, y'know? When I pay attention, there is a river of Joy running underneath my entire Life and I hope it comes through my work. I hope that you guys know how much I appreciate every single one of you who have ever shared an afternoon with me in Central Park or ever hung out at one of my concerts.
This past weekend.... oh man! We had a good time wrapping up 2008.
We laughed hard and loud. We sang even louder. And more importantly, we reveled in each other's company.
Now listen... I'm gonna be back tomorrow and we're gonna have some more fun around here. But, I receive dozens of emails a day. 95% of them are from thoughtful, evolved, open and honest people who kinda "get" what I'm about. But, I receive some emails that boggle my mind and defy description. I had a little fun in yesterday's update around the Iraqi journalist who threw a shoe at George W. Bush as a sign of disrespect and disgust. I laughed and said I'd like a chance to do the same thing.
Well, most of you "get it". But, for those of you who don't... before you email me again, please take a moment to listen to a constitutional law professor from George Washington University. He explains my feelings pretty clearly.
Watch the video. Remember that I'm not a particular fan of Keith Olbermann's show or the tenor of his approach very often. But, listen carefully to the logic and Reason behind Jonathan Turley's words. And then.... if you feel like refuting the comments of this man who clearly loves America and the principle upon which it was founded, then you can email me. (But, take the time to write something thoughtful if you can.)
I love what he said about it ultimately being up to the people.
As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
