Here we are...

ONE WEEK AWAY from "The Something-th Annual Year End Concert".

I was downtown yesterday in a rehearsal studio with the boys... George Wurzbach, David Marcus and Ryan Cavan. (It was the first time they'd met and were actually in the same room together.)

But, y'know? There's an old expression that says, "95% of directing... is casting."

And that's absolutely true. Because if you get the right people, everything else is easy.

Making music is exactly the same. These guys are all such great artists and nice guys. I can tell you this.... we're gonna have a blast on stage together in one week from tonight. I hope you've got plans to be there to kick the year in the ass as it heads out the door. I hope you either already got your tickets or are planning to call a few friends and reserve them this week. It'll be great to look out and see a lot of the same faces I see all summer in Central Park.

Oh listen... before I tell you how to grab your tickets today, I wanna do my part.

Most of you have probably seen this already. But, I wanted to make it available to as many people as possible because I've learned that politics truly is downstream from culture and not the other way around. (And, man! There are a lot of really Creative people out there!)

This was done by Marc Shaiman

By the way.... a lot of you who've been visiting this site from across the country and around the world know I'm a junkie for film scores. Marc Shaiman composed two scores that I really love: "The American President" and "City Slickers". (The music from both films is amazing.)

So, today I'm gonna repeat a pertinent question for these economic times.

Are you worried?

If you are...

...I have one suggestion.

(And yeah, this is actually a good thing for me... but I honestly think it'll be a good thing for you, too.)

Now - if you're worried or a little down, normally I'd suggest that you head out to Central Park this weekend to hang out with me and a few hundred of my closest friends to share some music and laughs. But, y'know... that's a seasonal phenomenon and the summer's long gone.

BUT! Yeah. Yeah, money is tight. For guys like me... Ha! Money is always tight. So, maybe I'm just used to it and that's why I'm never worried! Still, gimme a break. Do something good for yourself. Call a few friends and make December 13th a night out. Make it a "thing" to close out 2008. Like I always say, these year-end concerts are a great way to "kick the year in the ass as it heads out the door".

The box office is closed today... so make this the day you call a few friends. Or, make the decision to come to this thing by yourself and make a few friends.

TOMORROW... call the box office between noon and 7:00

If this helps at all, here's a seating chart for Merkin Hall. (The stage is actually designed for orchestral stuff. So, it's very wide. That just means the entire house is really very near the stage... very intimate. And the place sounds great! Not a bad seat anywhere in that room.)

BTW - pay attention to that dotted line. See? The balcony is like right near the stage!

Anyway, there are less than 200 tickets left. Now, we're still one week out from the gig. But you might wanna start thinking about grabbing some to make absolutely sure you don't get sold-out.

Alright, I'm outta here. If you're new around here... I've had a lot of fun with Photoshop during the past election year. Here's an update that contained a SUPER BIG PHOTOSHOP GALLERY!

Oh, okay. One more song to download for FREE.

This one was actually recorded at a "Something-th Annual Concert" in Merkin Concert Hall back in 2000.

LOVE THIS LIFE I'M LIVIN'

Hope I see YOU on December 13th!

Thanks for everything.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
