TODAY!

Once again, and for the last time - a survey. There's a question of paramount importance here at the site again today! It's about the upcoming concert.

First, as always, I wanna welcome everybody to the website. Y'know, I really wish every single one of you who's checkin' in here from different parts of the country and different parts of the world could be here one week from this coming Saturday night. That's when we're all takin' it indoors for "The Something-th Annual Year End Concert" and bake sale!

(I'm kidding about the bake sale.... and the question of "paramount" importance.)

Seriously, it's the first time we all get back together after another typically amazing summer season in Central Park.

Listen.... before I get to today's question, I wanna relate something to you all.

Y'know, I'm sure you've been watching the news. Even though we're still losing American lives in Iraq, (17 more last month, although you won't see that on the news.) - and the economy is has been driven into the pooper by greedy, unregulated business people - and religion and politics have both raised their ugly, violent heads in India - the headlines in 2 of the New York newspapers (The Daily News and the Post) have been dominated this week by Plaxico Burress... a self-absorbed athlete who went to a nightclub and... um... shot himself in the leg!

It reminds me of a time, though... back when I was still drinking, something very similar happened to me. It's almost eerie.

I remember one night, going to one of my favorite night hot spots. (City Diner on Broadway and 90th)

Now, I've been "That Guitar Man from Central Park" for a whole lotta years, and I get recognized everywhere I go around this town. So, I usually like to carry a weapon with me. It just seems to make sense to me, Especially when I'm going out to have a good time. (Doesn't everybody arm themselves for nice night out?)

Well, this particular night I was just arriving at City Diner, and my weapon began to slip. When I reached for it it, accidentally went off... and... this is really weirdly similar...

I shot myself in the thigh, too!!!

So, I guess... y'see? It's not that dumb or unusual.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
