Well, this is it.

Hey! Welcome to the website... all of you in different parts of the world. I know a lot of you are watching what's goin' on here in The States today.

Could be a beautiful day for America. Could be a great day in America. But, it is most definitely... it's a historic* day.

If you're new around here, definitely hit the "Archive" and check out what's been goin' on around here at the website. Usually a lot of fun.

But... no jokes today.

Welcome to everyone here in New York City. First I gotta tell you, I might just be heading out to Central Park this coming Saturday for one more afternoon. I might! (More about that in a minute.)

It's Election Day.

If you live here in the Sates... it's not only your privilege to vote, it's your responsibility.

Now, I have no worries about how New York is going to vote. After all, according to Sarah Palin and those on the conservative right, we New Yorkers are not part of what she calls real America. We're in one of those crazy parts of the country where people are nutty enough to feel that religion has NO place in government, that privacy is a right, that even our elected officials are bound by our laws, that torture is morally reprehensible and illegal no matter what the circumstances, that... that... it's... um... BAD to invade the wrong country, that Thomas Jefferson was correct when he said that we have a system based on suspicion of our elected officials rather that blind trust and that the price of freedom is eternal vigilance in that regard, that Benjamin Franklin was right in passing on the thought that "those who would give up essential liberty to purchase security, deserve neither liberty nor security"... and that the only thing we truly have to fear is fear itself.

But, for all of you who are reading this in different parts of the country, if you're crazy enough subscribe to these same thoughts... to I have one thing to say!

Seriously, this is important.

I'll say it again. Voting is not only a privilege... it is a responsibility.

Yknow, I've earned the right to write the songs I write, and say the things I say here at the website, and in Central Park, and on numerous stages over the past 8 years... because I vote.

Care enough.

It does count. I does make a difference. It is your responsibility.

Let's just say in a wild, crazy scenario... let's say... um... suppose you didn't vote in a particular election, and an unprincipled, intellectually incurious lightweight assumed the office of president. And the ideological machine behind him concocted a case to invade the sovereign country of a military dictator, and hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women and children were killed and maimed in the process, millions were displaced, and a thousand more American lost their lives than on 9-11.

Well in a very real way, those deaths would be considered partially your responsibility.

(And if you voted for this particular fraud you, of course, would bear particular responsibility.)

So, get out there and VOTE. I don't care how long the lines are where you live. Bring a sandwich. (Bring a few and share them. You'll be the hit of the line.) Bring a thermos full of coffee. Talk to the people in line. Maybe you'll meet somebody cool and wind up with a date!

But, get out there and vote!

I love New York City. I don't wanna have to think about leaving.

.

.

Okay no jokes today.
.

.

VOTE!

.

.

And, if Senator Barack Obama wins this election as Truth and Reason dictate he should, then I will see you guys out in Central Park next Saturday afternoon.

Deal?

.

And, I'll be back tomorrow to update you on the plans for this year's "Something-th Annual Year End Concert"

But, if you wanna order your tickets right now "online" you can do it here.

See you back here tomorrow!

.

* I'm not one of those silly people who say "an" historic day.

"A historic" is correct.

Bye!

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
