Got kind of a contest for you here today.... sorta!

Well... the rain moved out and the colder air is fillin' in right behind it. Really starting to feel like autumn. Gettin' close to "The Something-th annual Year End Concert". (More about that in a minute.)

First... today... I wanna share something with you guys.

I guess if you're here at this site today, even if you're in a different part of the country or a different part of the world, you've probably shared at least one afternoon with me at "The Hill" in Central Park.

If you're new around here, there were a whole lotta images... practically a gallery of Photoshop images and original cartoons here in this update a while back. Have some fun lookin' around. There are lotsa free songs to download in other updates as well. Browse why dontcha!

Now, I'm a songwriter. I write songs that go like this and songs that go like that. Genre-wise, my writing is pretty much all over the place. Some of my favorite artists to cover, though, are people like James Taylor, The Beatles, Rob Thomas, Don Henley, REM, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, The Eagles and so many others. I like to listen to The Rolling Stones, Sheryl Crow, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Led Zepplin, Jon Mayer, Janis Joplin...

But... do you know what kind of music I listen to most when I'm not makin' my own music?

.

.

Film scores.

(No. That's not the question for the contest!)

Y'know, a really wonderful film score moves me right to my soul. some of my favorite composers are artists like James Horner, Ennio Morricone, Marc Shaiman, John Williams, Miklos Rosza, John Barry... etc.

But, I'd been searching for one of my favorite scores for years and could never find it. Back in the days of vinyl records, this album was released and discontinued in a heartbeat. Then, I could never find it as a CD or as a download digitally anywhere.

Found it yesterday! And some guy named Jeff, from somewhere in Indiana, was cool enough to contact me through this website and send me the entire score as MP3s.

Now... here's a little contest.

I want you to email me if you can name the film this music is from! I'll give you two different pieces from this score. (Maybe they'll be a little "prize" in it for you! Maybe some FREE concert tickets. We'll see how many people can identify the music.)

Mystery film score - part I

Mystery film score - part II

Any idea?

Okay, movin' on...

THE BOX OFFICE IS OPEN TODAY AT MERKIN CONCERT HALL BETWEEN NOON AND 7:00

So, you can call and ask them directly how to get the very best seats available for the upcoming "Year End Concert" in December!

(212) 501-3330

Or you can get 'em online right now, here at this website! Call a few friends today and then come back here and order your tickets for "The Something-th Annual Year End Concert".

Click on this banner to order tickets online.

This show is gonna be a blast, the feeling in that hall is always a genuinely Good, Good feeling. I'm really looking forward to it already. We laugh as much as we sing. It's just cool.

Brings some friends and make it your reason to get together before the end of the year. It's a Saturday night. Go have dinner and wrap it up with a concert. Or, come to the concert an then go out for drinks. Make it a night.

And, I'm gonna share the stage with a wonderful bunch of artists. I'll see you there. When you're in the audience at these things, it's pretty cool. You can look around and see many of the same faces you see on "The Hill" in Central Park all summer. (Maybe even a secret crush or two!)

Okay, take a run at that film score and get those emails in!

I'll let you know how we did tomorrow!

See you back here then.

Thanks for everything.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
