Okay... that's it.

I'm fried.

Tomorrow is election day.

This has been a loooonnnggg 8 years of darkness and insanity in this country. (Damn! Even my Republican friends don't feel good about the state of this nation.)

But, me?

I'm just fried.

Ha! Y'know, before the year 2000, the only remotely political song I had ever written was "None of the Above" from the LIVE album. Then... Florida, Kathryn Harris, hanging chads and the Supreme Court happened!

Then, September 11th. Then this illegal, colossally ignorant and immoral war in Iraq and... and... and then things really started getting bad! Torture, domestic spying, Katrina, Guantanamo, press manipulation, Valarie Plame... the current Not-so-Great Depression!

So, in the last 8 years I've written volumes and volumes of words and thoughts here at the website, done dozens of cartoons, even more Photoshop images, and written and recorded more songs... oh man!

I've written:

Where's the Voice?
Common Ground
Tired of Being Lied To
My Morning Coffee
Where'dat Money Go
Get Out Our House
JesusLand
Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Pages
Bill O'Reilly: the Big Giant Head
Don't Know Palin
Keep Hope Alive
The Sounds of Bullshit
Fear the Busboy (Cowbell Sketch redux)
Oh Exxon
The Religion Song
I Love the Company
and...

Tom Cruise Scares Me

I've had a lot of fun doing what I'm meant to do.

I've had a lot of fun and a real sense of purpose. But...

I'm exhausted.

So, y'know what's reeeeaallllllyyy good news? "The Something-th Annual Year End Concert" is on Saturday night, December 13th... and that's wwwaaaaaayyyyy after election day! So, this will all be a memory by then.

Man! I'm lookin' forward to it.

Well, one last time -

Y'know, today is the final day of a campaign season that started about a million weeks ago. So, let me clkose this out one last time with this stuff from a very special update beofre tomorrow.

Today we can look back at some of the crazy shit that's gone on this year - - a little retrospective look back. (Wait! Can you possibly have a retrospective look forward? I think not!)

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
