Welcome back to the website. Welcome to all of you across the country and in different parts of the world!
Got some ridiculously funny stuff happening in my life these days. I'll tell you what went down just last night. And there's a link to the picture gallery near the bottom of this page.
But FIRST... if you're here in New York City this weekend, what're you doin' tomorrow?
Head on out to Central Park! Hang with me tomorrow afternoon! I have a feeling the weather is gonna be perfect and it's gonna be one of those "golden" days. I can't explain it... just a feeling. We'll see tomorrow.
Maybe I'll get to run a couple of new songs past you guys. Maybe I'll just dig up some old songs that I haven't played in a long time.
MAN! I can't wait for this election to be over. I'm soooooo tired of hearing this crap. I'm sooooo tired of writing political songs and speaking up here at the site. (But, I'm passionate about Truth and Reason, I actually love the principles upon which this country was founded... and, it's kinda part of my job description.)
So.... just a few more weeks.
(whew!)
Vote...... dammit!
Did you watch that "debate" last night? These things hardly resemble anything like an actual "debate". But.... well, I've nothing much to say about it right now. I'll break down my reaction to it on Sunday or Monday if you're at all interested. Honestly. I don't have a lot to say right now. Still gathering my thoughts. I will say one thing.... I'm pretty sure she doesn't have a clue what the common term "Achilles Heel" means.
Still, I'd be more interested in hearing from you guys, especially if you still think that the choice of Sarah Palin to run as vice president is not a complete embarrassment. (The possibility of... President Palin. Holy shit!)
Moving on.
THE OTHER THING THAT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT!
You guys all know that the voice-over on the new Sarah Palin parody is that of my good friend and colleague, the amazing Christine Lavin. Well, I stopped by Chris's apartment to drop off her copy of the a special CD that I burned. But, I stumbled in on an in-house concert she was giving for a bunch of nice people from WFUV. (I don't know.... something about winning a contest or an auction or something. But, it sounded like a very cool idea.)
ANYWAY... she invited me in to do the song. We had a blast! I'm gonna try to talk her into coming back out to Central Park tomorrow like she has on so many other occasions. (Maybe we can get her to do the "Sex and the City" song.)
Hey, if you're reading this in a different part of the country or a different part of the world, some of the people who were hangin' out in Central Park 2 Saturdays ago wanted to say "Hey!"

Man, I love doin' what I do. Y'know what else I love?
I love the wonderful idea that was this marvelous experiment in self-governance called The United States of America. (Not that it's all that recognizable to me anymore... especially after the past 8 years.) But, I really dig getting in there and trying to make it cool to care, making it cool to "pay attention". It's part of my job description as an American singer/songwriter to "comfort the disturbed... and disturb the comfortable."
Okay... one mo' time!
HERE IT IS! The new Sarah Palin parody, "Don't Know Palin"
If you've been coming around here lately, you know we've been having a lot of fun around the choice of Sarah Palin to be John McCain's vice presidential running mate. (You can download the new song a little further down the page, and then pass it all around the internet.)
Click on the image to download the song.
I rrreeeeeaaallllly want you guys to download this for yourselves, but then pass it on to several friends around the country, especially in those "swing states". (C'mon... this is New York. I know at least half of you have relatives in Florida!)
OKAY, like I promised... you'd like to check out a more extensive picture gallery, just click on this link.
Between now and November, try to get as may friends as you can to at least check out this site.... and even tell them to browse the "Archives"
And keep passing this FREE stuff all around the internet.
Okay...
If you're in NYC, hope I see you in the park TOMORROW!!!
Make sure to check in all week. I'll have some more video!!!! Maybe from the park... TOMORROW!
Thanks for everything.

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
