But, first I gotta say.... I have a feeling the weather is gonna cooperate and we're gonna get another weekend in. I'm gonna strap on my guitar and head out to Central Park at least one mo' time this coming Saturday.
I know there are a whole bunch of people reading this in different parts of the country and around the world. But, if you're in town and you're not doin' anything, come hang out with me. Grab a couple of friends, or come by yourself and make some new ones.
Um, if you're here and you're looking for my reaction to last night's presidential debate, you're gonna hafta come back tomorrow. I can tell you this right now, though. Just like every "debate" that these people have these days....
... I was disappointed on sooooooooo many levels.
Okay, the idea...
Y'know what I'm thikin' might make a pretty nice holiday gift this year for your friends around the country? Maybe I could put out a "Best of... " album. But, I would want YOU to pick the songs that would go on the CD. Y'know? I could ask you guys to pick the songs in the collection. So, it would be more of a "favorites" than a "best". I could even add some of the songs that I've played in the park and at concerts, but haven't put on any of the other CDs.
Hit the contact button and let me know what you think of the idea in the next week or so. and if you guys are up for it, I'll get to work comprising an extensive list of titles for you to choose from.
Cool?
Okay... a little repeat of something I posted yesterday.
Y'know? As an American singer/songwriter and a fiercely, politically Independent man, I'm kinda sprintin' to the finish in this presidential election year. (I honestly feel this might be the single most important election in this nation's entire history.... only because the last 8 years have been so globally disastrous, the principles upon which this nation was founded have all but been forgotten, and to me this country has become unrecognizable.) This election might be our last best hope to bring it back, even just a little.
And now we've got this northern twinkie named Sarah Palin who... okay, she oughta be a joke. Actually, for the most part... she has become a joke! (Thank you Tina Fey.)
But yesterday Ms. Palin said this about Senator Obama.
Obama "...is someone who sees America as imperfect enough to pal around with terrorists who targeted their own country. This ladies and gentleman, is not the kind of change that I think we should be believin' in.''
Now, I tried to imagine what might be going on inside that warped, frozen brain of hers....
"Pal around with terrorists."
But... no.
She's not stupid. And she doesn't really believe the things she's saying.
She's just another unprincipled, Spiritually bankrupt, hypocritical phony.
She's a disgrace. And if you're a registered Republican and you're not embarrassed by her and her running mate, insulted by a statement like this, and ashamed of the current occupant of the Oval Office.... I have nothing left to say to you except, Man! You just don't get it and you never will!
(Ha! Ask me how I reeeeallly feel!)
Okay... ROCK ON!
HEY! Download any song and copy any photo you find here and feel free to pass them all around the internet.
Okay, some fun stuff. HERE IT IS! The new Sarah Palin parody, "Don't Know Palin"
If you've been coming around here lately, you know we've been having a lot of fun around the choice of Sarah Palin to be John McCain's vice presidential running mate. (You can download the new song a little further down the page, and then pass it all around the internet.)
Click on the image to download the song.
This is not the radio-friendly FCC-pleasing version. This is the version for the rest of us and for podcasters and bloggers who aren't encumbered by censorship.
I rrreeeeeaaallllly want you guys to download this for yourselves, but then pass it on to several friends around the country, especially in those "swing states". (C'mon... this is New York. I know at least half of you have relatives in Florida!)
By the way... if you're new around here and you'd like to check out a more extensive picture gallery, just click on this link.
Now, listen. I've told you guys that I feel the upcoming election in November is the first on in my lifetime that should be.... um... UNANIMOUS!
So, you can imagine how surprised I was when... well...
I was speechless when this guy showed up in the park last Saturday. And, breathless when he said he wanted to sing. (And incredulous when he took his shirt off.) But, what the hell. He wanted to sing "Bomb Iran" but I wouldn't let him. I told him the jokes he repeatedly makes about killing Iranian people aren't funny, and that the thought of him in the Oval Office is about as scary as it gets. So instead, he sang a medley of ABBA hits. That was weird... but safer.
This man is a nightmare. We have work to do.
(sigh)
I know there are always people visiting here who have NO idea what I do!
So, I very often like to make a few songs available as FREE downloads. Here are a few more...
Anyway... everybody, there's always a lot of cool stuff goin' on around here. I'm just makin' this shit up as I go along.. (Photoshop images, political cartoons, FREE songs to download.) I hope you keep stopping by here every day. And if you dig this kinda thing, I hope you turn a few friends onto it as well. (If you don't like this kinda thing... um.. uh... how the hell did you get all the way to the bottom of this page!?)
The rest of you... keep in touch.
Thanks for everything.
All outdoor events are weather permitting! Stop by the website before you go if it is questionable.

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer. - Dean
