Oh man... Hannah!

Timing.

Damn!

Hannah! Gotta visit New York on a Saturday?

Really!?

Damn!

Thought we might sneak out there for a few hours. But, I figured the heavy rain would move in by 2:00 - so what the hell. (I was off by about 45 minutes.) The rain got here at 2:45.

Saturday in the park.

Got an email from someone who said, "I don't understand why you won't play for an hour or so! It's not raining!" I don't wanna sound cranky or anything. But, getting all that stuff out to the park and set up is no picnic. And it;s around $20 in cab rides And... well, it's the only part of the day that's work. BUT... when I spend the hour getting the stuff there and setting up and then it rains at 2 or 3:00... nearly EVERYBODY runs for it and I'm left with a few nice people to scramble and get the equipment out of the rain. (Besides the fact that everybody runs without making a brief stop at the guitar case.) All things to consider!

So... no big deal. We'll just hang out here at the website today!

.

GOT SOME OF YOUR THOUGHTS HERE TODAY! (Further down the page.)

So, get ready to gather your thoughts and shoot me an email after you explore some of the links around here. Maybe I'll post your comments, too!

Whatever you're doing today, please have fun. I'll see you guys soon. Maybe I'll get that new parody finished today so I can make it another FREE download here on the site. I'm also gonna try to lock down the logistics for the "Something-th Annual Year-End Concert". (It's lookin' like we're gonna split it this year to give you guys a choice of nights to kick the year in the ass as it heads out the door. It's lookin' like 2 Saturday nights in a row in December.)

Tell you what... check back here in a little while for that new song. And right now, let me give you guys a couple of links to have fun with if you haven't seen them. And, please take a few minutes to browse the "Archives" on this site. There are a lot fun things goin' on around here.

Enjoyed and concur with your commentary on Sara Palin.
-Greg Moller, New York

Very good !! Thanks a lot.
- Uli from Stuttgart, Germany

I am watching the whole Republican, convention as I did the Democratic one, and hopefully I will keep an open mind. To me, it is about issues and voting records. I am Pro-choice as most women are, that is a big factor. I remember when abortion was illegal, however, in my family we had two abortions during that time, the Republican way - - done in a hospital that was run by a family member, performed by an MD also a family member. Some people always get what they need, and don't care if someone else does not. I care, and I care a lot. I believe in economic and social justice. I would like to believe that our elected officials do too. I read three newspapers daily and a lot of books, on both sides of the fence. It is hard work to search out the truth. Hopefully all Americans will educate themselves and not vote based on "sound bites"and think of the greater good. Will and Ariel Durant have written a large work, many volumes, " THE STORY OF CIVILIZATION",a two thousand year history, and it is clear through time that when you lose the middle class, you lose Democracy, and are left with a Military government, or Royal government. We are in danger of losing the middle class. I don't worry about terrorists, the enemy is with in.
-Ann Ruckert, New York

Sarah Palin scares me. New lyrics for your Tom Cruise scares me song. I have daughters and I don't want her representing them or me or even my sons! Go Obama/Biden.
peace, blessings

-Jane Beukers, Mt. View, California

AHHHHHHHHH...David....Now don't you really think Sarah is the best thing to happen in politics for a loooong time! She's a winner and bring bring up your views on this whole election thing! Sarah & John ----a winning team!
- Mary Ann, Georgia

People who support Sarah Palin don't know enough about her. She's frightening. Palin opposes stem cell research, physician-assisted suicide, and state health benefits for same-sex partners. As far as Iraq she said she hadn't given the much thought. Palin told the Alaska Business Monthly, "I've been so focused on state government, I haven't really focused much on the war in Iraq. I heard on the news about the new deployments, and while I support our president, Condoleezza Rice and the administration, I want to know that we have an exit plan in place." Speaking about our soldiers at the Wasilla Assembly of God church in June, Palin said that "our leaders, our national leaders, are sending them out on a task that is from God." And as far as the separation of Church and State, she said in a 2006 gubernatorial debate, "...creationism should be taught alongside evolution in the state's public classrooms."
- Bill, Virginia

You definitely need to add a verse about Sarah Palin to "Tom Cruise Scares Me." She scares me a lot more than any of the people mentioned in your song. (Mainly due to the fact that she may be our next VP! And in another 4 years, our President.)
- Janet

She must have been a Karl Rove, Dick Cheney pic and McCain did the Bush puppet act and asked her to be vp. I work for a very small company, about 12 people and the only other thing that frightens me about her is the 2 republicans in my office seeing nothing wrong with the decision!
- Karen, New Jersey

It was a pleasure reading your thoughts about the Palin nomination. I must admit it boggles the mind. I was even more distressed about it when I read in today's NY Times that as soon as she was elected Mayor, she tried to get the library to ban books. And then fired the librarian who refused to do so (the librarian was reinstated after community protest)! She also fired a number of people from the previous administration, which apparently had never been done before in that town. She brought partisan politics to Podunk with a vengeance (no offense to small town USA, but I couldn't resist the alliteration). After all that we've been through the past 8 years, do we really need people who are not willing to listen? who are not willing to be INclusive? Yes, this was a "bold" choice - it gives all the spinmeisters a chance to boldly spin where no one has spun before!
-Ann Marie, New York

I think McCain just shot himself in the foot, (Palin pick) or maybe his advisors did it for him. As your friend Christine Lavin would say " WHAT WAS HE THINKING?
All the best,
-Carol Kienzle, Long Island

Your blog today is spot on. Yep, she's a got toting, moose eating rabid Evangelist. She'd rather destroy her daughter's future than to do what she should do; pull out. (Bad phrase, double entendre not intended) As a woman, I'm really upset that Both Hillary and this dingbat are the ones that many people (men) will think of when the specter of a female presidential candidate or vice president will think of. Gag me with an eyelash curler!
- Carol Dobson, New York

Love your website -- so creative! And funny. Hope to be there tomorrow!
-Susan

It was a great concert on Saturday. I think my time with you, the people on the Hill, and "Bosley" and the girls of course, was the best part of the whole weekend! Have a good one! Hugs.
-Miriam from Bristol

The more I hear about Palin the more afraid I become. If McCain is elected she will be one short step form the presidency.
- Brentwood

If you can sing through your nose, why can't Sarah Palin work with her nose???
- James, New York

Your political message was the first thing I read the first time I visited your site. It was entertaining enough to keep me reading it to the end despite the fact that I usually hate reading anything political these days since it feels like reading my own obituary (because those people are so deadly and scary, and proud of it). I think it was because you have an interesting joke or comment in each paragraph that makes it fun to read.
For example the sentence: "Maybe political opponents also cross her at their peril"...at first sounds like an irrelivant "cheap shot" because people do not necessarily treat people as badly as they treat animals. But on deeper consideration it is not so obvious: I heard Jane Goodall said "she liked some gorillas more than some people" when asked. Also the hunting accident by Dick Chaney natually comes to mind when reading your sentence. And then the "human hunting" in Iraq to get cheap oil (or whatever the purpose was apparently unstated, but I do not like to waste my time guessing why people do things, when they are too dishonest to tell us the truth I think we should simply react to their actions (excuses need only be considered from honest people, if we listen to people who have lied then we loose all control of our future because we can not plan for what they will do).

-Erik Bergren

I really enjoy your voice, spirit, music and humor.
Looking forward to hearing and seeing you.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
