Hey! Welcome to the website! Welcome to everyone who is reading this in different parts of the country and different parts of the world.

I actually reeeaaallllllyyy wanna welcome all of you who are checkin' in here from Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Florida... for reasons that will become obvious over the next few weeks.

And to all of you here in New York City who made it out to Central Park to hang with me last Saturday... THANKS AGAIN!

I've asked the webmaster and evil genius behind this website, James Marino, to help me get that video from last Saturday up here on the homepage. We'll see how that works out today.

Well, the new parody "Don't Know Palin" is starting to get around the internet thanks to so many cool people out there. Keep it up. (Kinda cool, isn't it?)

You can check out the video and download your FREE copy of that song further down thepage.

But y'know? I very, very often say that I'm a lucky, lucky man. There are lots of reasons for that. But one reason is that I've got a biological family who are as much friends as they are family in so many ways... and we're all independently and individually on the same page about what's going on in this country and the world.

Got a voice-mail from Pop down in Florida last night, and he made an excellent point about multi-billionaire John McCain - - and the Democrats comparing his remarks yesterday to those of Herbert Hoover in 1928, right before The Great Depression.

John Herbert McHoover

In the face of the stock market dropping over 500 points in one day, in the face of $4.00 a gallon gasoline, a record national debt, millions of Americans without health care, unemployment spiking and prices for everything soaring... yesterday McCain said, "You know, that there's been tremendous turmoil in our financial markets and Wall Street and it is -- people are frightened by these events. Our economy, I think, still the fundamentals of our economy are strong."

(His buddy, Phil Graham, who wrote his economic policy called you, me and everyone else who's struggling "a nation of whiners."

Funny... in 1928, the year before everything went to hell for millions of people, Herbert Hoover said, "With impressive proof on both sides of magnificent progress, no one can rightly deny the fundamental correctness of our economic system."

Now, Pop pointed out that sooooo many people who will vote in this election certainly don't know really know who Herbert Hoover was and how dire and long the Depression was.

Shanty towns and homeless villages called Hoovervilles sprung up all across the country.

Hey! Y'know that beautiful park where I play?

Yeah. During the Depression, Hoovervilles even sprung up in Central Park.

Now...

I ain't saying that John McCain is gonna cause another Great Depression.

But, his fuckin' attitude sucks and is typical of those well-to-dos in the Republican Party like the Bushes and Phil Grahams who have no idea and don't care what it's like for the average American citizen.

OKAY, NOW!

If you've been coming around here lately, you know we've been having a lot of fun around the choice of Sarah Palin to be John McCain's vice presidential running mate. (You can download the new song a little further down the page, and then pass it all around the internet.)

But, Y'know? It's been forcing me to do deeper research on this candidate than I usually do. And, y'know?

I'm surprised nobody's come up with this little fact about Sarah Palin's past. Sit right back and I'll tell you this tale.

Did you know that she was one of 5 passengers who set sail that day for 3-hour tour?

I'll bet you didn't know that.

.

Okay... FREE download time!!! In case you missed your chance to download this song for FREE and send it around to as many people as you can...

I'm already workin' on a NEW song! It's based on some email exchanges I've had with several people over the past few days... and generated by this song!

"DON'T KNOW PALIN"

Music: Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil, Tom Snow
New Lyrics: David Ippolito, Lisa Regal

Performed by David Ippolito and Angie McKnight (With a special appearance by Miss Christine Lavin)

Click on the image to download the song.

Y'know when I was down at Chris Lavin's apartment laying down the voice over parts, she suggested that a whole bunch of people might wanna start playing this on the radio... college radio stations, Air America and the like. (Air America has aired my tune "JesusLand" several times so I'm thinking she had a good point.) So, here's an FCC-friendly version for public airplay. I bleeped out one word - - (gasp!!!)

Whew!

Okay, here's the version for the rest of us.

And for you podcasters and bloggers who aren't encumbered by censorship.

I rrreeeeeaaallllly want you guys to download this for yourselves, but then pass it on to several friends around the country, especially in those "swing states". (C'mon... this is New York. I know at least half of you have relatives in Florida!)

Between now and November, try to get as may friends as you can to at least check out this site.... and even tell them to browse the "Archives"

And keep passing this FREE stuff all around the internet.

Okay...

Gotta get to work on that video.

See you back here tomorrow. Make sure to check in!

Thanks for everything.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
