CONGRATULATIONS AMERICA.

You've come a long way.

Maybe we're evolving. Maybe we haven't grown up quite enough yet. We'll see.

But last night, really Good history was made and I'm grateful for it.

In my lifetime, I've seen a day when there was not even a woman or a black news reporter - - never mind an anchor. I've seen the Voting Rights Act passed to outlaw discriminatory voting practices against black people in the south. I've seen a day when there wasn't a minority host of a television series, and Bill Cosby's role on "I Spy" was ground-breaking... and Diahanne Carroll was the first black woman to star in her own a series.

.

Now, Barack Obama is a multi-racial American and that's a beautiful thing. But, he is the first person of color... an African American... to become a nominee for the presidency.

And, he is my choice.

Not because he's a person of color. But as a registered independent, I love the idea of the "audacity of hope". I think he speaks reasonably about very issue I've heard him address. And, he is not a member of the Republican Party, which has consistently shown me that they no longer have a nodding acquaintance with the principles upon which this nation was founded and no collective conscience.

CONGRATULATIONS AMERICA.

Really short update today.

I've got a little... (I hope it's little) ...technical problem with the electronics inside my guitar. I played my usual little gig at H.I.N.Y. Performance Hall last night, but I had to mike the guitar because of this ungodly buzz I couldn't get rid of. (Ha! I remember a time when the words "get rid of a buzz" never would have come out of my mouth!)

But... I'm hoping that the great guys down at Rudy's Music will be able to help me out today so I can head out to Central Park and hang with you guys tomorrow.

Yes. I have a feeling the clouds and the rain are gonna blow through New York City today, tonight and early, early tomorrow morning.

So listen... I'll probably be back in a little while with a more complete update today. Check back.

But, if you're new around here take a few minutes to look around. You can hit that "Archive" button right over there and look through updates. In fact... there was a Super Update a couple of weeks ago with a full gallery! Knock yourself out.

Keep your fingers crossed for tomorrow.

See you back here in a little while.

Thanks for everything.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
