Okay...

...let's head out there today.

Glad you checked back.

I'm gonna head out to Central Park. Might not be the "perfect" day weather-wise, but I think we'll be able to hang out for a while and share some music and laughs.

If you're reading this in a different parts of the country or a different part of the world, or you're not gonna be hangin' out with me in the park today, or just in case you missed it... here's a little something I wrote yesterday. I'd love to hear your comments about this subject. Y'never know where a new song is gonna come from.

Truly, no matter how you feel... if you have the time to write some thoughts, I always love to get them. Just hit the "Contact" button up there.

Anyway, here's what I wrote yesterday:

CONGRATULATIONS AMERICA

You've come a long way.

Maybe we're evolving. Maybe we haven't grown up quite enough yet. We'll see.

But last week, really Good history was made and I'm grateful for it.

In my lifetime, I've seen a day when there was not even a woman or a black news reporter - - never mind an anchor. I've seen the Voting Rights Act passed to outlaw discriminatory voting practices against black people in the south. I've seen a day when there wasn't a minority host of a television series, and Bill Cosby's role on "I Spy" was ground-breaking... and Diahanne Carroll was the first black woman to star in her own a series.

.

Now, Barack Obama is a multi-racial American and that's a beautiful thing. But, he is the first person of color... an African American... to become a nominee for the presidency.

And, he is my choice.

Not because he's a person of color. But as a registered independent, as an artist and as a man, I love the idea of the "audacity of hope". I think Obama speaks reasonably about very issue I've heard him address. And he is not a member of the Republican Party, which has consistently shown me that they no longer have a nodding acquaintance with the principles upon which this nation was founded, and generally no collective conscience.

CONGRATULATIONS AMERICA.

Okay, I'll be back in a little while with a more complete update.

But, if you're new around here take a few minutes to look around. You can hit that "Archive" button right over there and look through updates. In fact... there was a Super Update a couple of weeks ago with a full gallery! Knock yourself out.

If you're here in town, hope I see you in the park today. (Bring something to sit on.)

See you back here in a little while, when I'll tell you all about some more "indoor" concerts that will be coming up soon.

Thanks for everything.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
- Dean
