Welcome to the website... all of you across the country and around the world!
HEY! So, so lookin' forward to this weekend - - Saturday in Central Park...

At home with you on "The Hill"
...and Friday night at "The Sunset on the Hudson" concert series on Pier 45 in the Village.
.
The "Sunset on the Hudson" concert series
Y'know I say this all the time. But, I'm a very lucky man. I write songs and I sing 'em for people. That's what I do.
But, man! I am a "possibility-junkie". That's just a fact! I'm already lookin' toward the next cool thing to do. (Not sure exactly what that is, yet. But, I'll know it when I see it.)
It's also an election year. So, y'know... part of my job description is to "comfort the disturbed... and disturb the comfortable." So, there will plenty of opportunity to make some noise. Like I said yesterday... y'know that little song I wrote and video I made in about 10 minutes concerning one of the biggest sources of wind in the northern hemisphere (Bill O'Reilly) ?

Someone emailed me and told me it's approaching 21,000 views on YouTube. (So weird. Sometimes it's the things you just throw together that people wanna see and hear the most.) Click on this link to hear that song. There are lots of other satirical songs I've turned into little vids. Check 'em all out... if you don't actually have anything of real value to do with you time today.
I was up to my ass and crazed last week getting everything ready for the first annual "Upper West Music Fest". And, I really enjoy the fact of being able to pull that kinda thing off. But, I'm not sure I remember from event to event... whether it's a concert at Merkin Hall with the band or a festival like the one I put together last weekend... how much work it takes while the results are never guaranteed.
But, in my heart I'm not a promoter and I'm not a concert producer. I really love just showing up and playing. That is, of course, what I'd prefer to do in the best of all possible worlds.
Still, It drives me crazy when I hear some performers (Not the kind I work with) constantly complaining about not having gigs or "struggling". I always say, then y'know... make your own gig. Get audacious, roll up your sleeves and create a venue! Take a chance. Risk embarrassment and loss. Put your ass on the line.
The Universe rewards balls.
Just being able to do the work and show up for the challenge is already it's own reward. (Tough to put into words.)
Again, y'see... I'm lucky. With the good friends and colleagues around me I've gotten to a place where I've received thousands of emails about what I do from people all around the world. I received one yesterday that makes me feel like all the work putting up something like we did on Saturday is all worthwhile. (I'm not posting this for my own self-aggrandizement, but rather to let other artists know what's possible. And, when you don't think you're making a difference.... you are.)
This came from a young woman named Magan who traveled all the way to NYC from Buffalo for the festival:

Hi David!
This is more than likely going to be long, so I'm warning you now...but I know you'll still read this.
So check this out. I've gotta say, I was a little bummed that my friend couldn't come with me to the concert but its all good though. You know why? Because the second I walked in Allie, who is so incredibly gracious, greeted me like we were best girlfriends, which was really cool. But I gotta say you guys rocked out yesterday and that was really cool. You always do your thing and I love what you do. But it was so amazing to finally get to see Karlus Trapp sing live. His voice is like mellow and cool but at the same time crazily electrifying!!! it was really great to talk to him, too. He's got a really good spirit or aura about him that makes him so easy to talk to. Cassie, knocked my socks off...I mean seriously why isn't this girl on the radio, she's amazing!!! So finally, YOU!! were great as always, gracious, compassionate, and appreciative...OMG!! I almost forgot about Pato! He played very well. I wish he coulda done a few more songs, but I've found him on myspace. So I'm still processing everything right now and as always when I get home. I miss the live music so much, it's like a withdrawal I go through. But here's one last BIG THANK YOU!!!...ttyl
- Magan
P.S. i love Karlus "LIVE" so much I like can't listen to his album now...it's just not the same. I don't know if that makes sense... but I'm sure I'll get over it.
bye.. luv ya!!

Very cool.
This next thing. I posted yesterday but bears repeating.
You guys who come to "The Hill" and know our good, good friend Sid...

You might find this pretty cool. Sad... but, cool at the same time. (Something I've been saying for a long time. And, now people might be catching up.)

Next time you see Sid out there in Central Park with us... give him a smile!
See you all back here tomorrow.
