GOT SOME GREAT THINGS COMIN' UP!
GOT SOME FUN GIGS COMIN' UP!
And depending on the weather... I just might have something really fun planned for tomorrow out in Central Park! But, first... a quick "Independence Day" message. Just some spontaneous thoughts.

Y'know?
I write love songs, and funny songs, and songs just about... y'know... all of us. But, I'm also the guy who wrote...
Tired of Being Lied To and Where's the Voice and Common Ground and JesusLand and Bill O'Reilly: The Legend of The Big Giant Head and My Morning Coffee and so many others.
But, on a day when we celebrate the birth of a beautiful idea and a magnificent experiment called the United States of America, I need to say that I write these songs and speak out because I have a deep abiding love for the principles and concepts upon which this nation was founded.
Despite the feelings that have been expressed in some of the negative mail I've received from "right-wing conservative" people who call themselves"patriotic", the reason I write these songs and speak out is because I "pay attention" and actually give a shit.
Sure, this Bush administration is simply and undeniably the most wholly unAmerican, unprincipled, secretive and disgraceful administration in my lifetime. The only people who don't know that are those who are not paying attention. That's just the way it goes. But, there are many, many people who are waking up to the Truth of things. (I named my most recent CD "I Love the Company" for a reason.)

Maybe it's too late. Y'know, Thomas Jefferson said that a little rebellion every now and then is a good thing. I'm not sure the American people have it in 'em anymore. I know the Democrats in Congress haven't grown a collective spine. So... maybe this country has lost it's way in the world for good, due to the fear the Republican party has so carefully nurtured and the apathy and self-centeredness that prosperity has fostered over the decades. Maybe we're all about watching "Dancing with the Stars" rather than paying attention to the countless lives that are being lost in both Iraq AND Afghanistan. Maybe we're all about worrying over the price of gasoline rather than the deconstruction of our Constitution by a lawless oligarchy in Washington DC .
But, a part of my job description as an American singer/songwriter is "....to comfort the disturbed, and disturb the comfortable".
So, y'know? That's just what we'll try to do.
And, smile doing it!
And tomorrow? Y'know what I'm thinkin'? Well, hell... we didn't get outta town for any of those great Fourth of July Weekend cookouts. So, we'll do something special.... just us.

YEAH!!!!! Let's hope the weather cooperates! If you're reading this across the country and in different parts of the world... WELCOME to the website today.
