I'll be back with a full, NEW update a little later.

But for now... what can I say?

This week is starting out and I'm just completely overwhelmed with a feeling of...

GRATITUDE and genuine humility.

I know there are people reading this all across the country and in different parts of the world. But to those of you here in New York City -

THANK YOU to every single one of you who showed up in Central Park on Saturday! Doing what I do for a living, making music, going with the Spirit in the crowd... sometimes... y'know, not all of them can be golden. These days, these gigs are always wonderful in their own way. But, not all of them can be golden.

Yesterday in Central Park... was golden.

I sang all day for the sweetest people, with shining faces.

WHAT A DAY! David Marcus jumping in as always... rocket man flying by during that Elton John song... and the beautiful singer from Brazil - Joyce Candido - jumping up to make her NYC singing debut.

Very cool.

Who's the luckiest man alive? Who's the luckiest independent singer/songwriter?

I am.... and, I know it.

I love singin' in the Sun for you.

I'm gonna get to some really cool stuff that's goin' on today and all this week. But, FIRST I hadda give you guys a heads up!

I'm gonna be getting into this in a bit more depth as the week goes by. But, Ha! (This is cool.) ... a "Stop Obama" bunch on FaceBook sent me... this is pretty funny... an invitation to join a group.

Now, besides the really shallow, fear-driven, simplistic, Spiritually-bankrupt "philosophy" that accompanied this thing, (I won't even get into that!) the invitation read that I'd been invited to join the Facebook group "Express your Individualism: Stop conformity..."

JOIN... a GROUP!?

To "express my individualism"?

Join a group of like-minded ideologues... to "Stop conformity"?

Unfortunately the fact that this is dripping with irony would be lost on these people! (But, it made me laugh.)

In yesterday's update, I told you I'd elaborate on it a little more this week. I don't really have time to get into it right now. (I'm on my horse again and running downtown for an audition.)

But I wanted to say this...

The "group" or individual who sent it to me briefly corresponded back and forth a little through email. I told him or her that, "if I went to college for 4 years and MAJORED in how to disagree with their perception of Life, I couldn't possibly disagree with it more." I thought I'd just drop it at that. Live and let live.... y'know?

BUT... it occurred to me that I had never approved this person as a "Friend" in FaceBook. I spoke with the Lovely Lisa, and she said this "person" showed up in her "Friends" as well, and she never approved them either. Now, I'm gonna reserve judgment until I know a little more. But, I think I might smell something disingenuous goin' on here... might actually be consistent with a personality type. We'll see.

I'm gonna try to find out more later today. Anybody else have this experience? Gimme a shout here at the site.

But... Ha! Onward through the fog! I'm lovin' my life, my friends and havin' fun with the "good Guys"!

What can I say! He digs my song "Keep Hope Alive"!

In a time in American history where people have come to accept something as audacious and wrong as the establishment by our government of "Free Speech ZONES", it feels good to finally get behind something called the "Audacity of Hope".

(If you ask me... my free-speech-zone stretches from the Eastern tip of Maine, to Hawaii, to the westernmost tip of Alaska.)

Um... oh yeah. You guys who are regulars around here know that I am a "possibility-junkie".

Well, I have another idea that might become a really cool NYC experience if everyone is up for it and will support it.

'm thinking about putting together an outdoor music festival/picnicright here on the Upper West Side of Manhattan sometime in July.

Is that something you guys would be up for?

I mean, I'd see if I could put together a lineup of wonderful singer/songwriters and make it a day-long party on the back property of the H.I. New York Performance Hall.

So many of you have already come to the indoor concerts in the new music hall. But, can you imagine a "picnic on the block-long, back lawn on a beautiful Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon?

I'm thinking... music on the block-long back yard lawn. A bunch of musicians who wanna show up and jam. A chance for all of you to actually meet some of the same people you hang out with all summer. A real weekend party with great live music.

Y'think?

If you guys tell me you'd be up for it and could bring friends, then I'll start setting it up! I'm thinkin' you could bring come of your own picnic if you want. Maybe even... everyone could cook up or bring a little somethin' extra to share with the people around you. Might be really cool

Sound good?

IF YOU'RE NEW AROUND HERE... go ahead and click on this link to hit the "Archive" page". There's a lot of cool stuff on this site. (Photoshop images, political cartoons, FREE songs to download.)

In fact... there was a Super Update yesterday! Knock yourself out.

Listen... I gotta get on my horse and get out into that great city.

I hope you keep stopping by here every day. And if you dig this kinda thing, I hope you turn a few friends onto it as well.

Keep in touch.

Thanks for everything.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
