Well, I know there are a lot of you reading this across the country and in different parts of the world. But, this past Saturday here in New York City, my day out in Central Park got cut short by some spectacular lightning storms..... the kind where the rain just sheeted for hours. Crackling thunder.

Very cool.

Not all that cool for cutting the music short. But, I'm already looking forward to getting back out there this coming weekend.

Hey, and listen...

I'm thinking about putting together an outdoor music festival/barbecue right here on the Upper West Side of Manhattan sometime in July.

Is that something you guys would be up for?

I mean, I'd see if I could put together a lineup of wonderful singer/songwriters and make it a day-long party on the back property of the H.I. New York Performance Hall.

I'm thinking... music on the block-long back yard lawn, and a barbecue on the adjoining patio-courtyard area. A real weekend party with great live music.

Y'think?

If you guys tell me you'd be up for it and could bring friends, then I'll start setting it up! I'm thinkin' you could bring come of your own picnic if you want, and make it so that burgers and hot dogs and a soda are included for free with the price of a ticket.

Sound good?

Okay... gonna bring you all some more video and some free music downloads this week. But for right now, here's a re-post of something from last week.

Gotta switch gears just a little bit.

Because while this country has been watching "American Idol" and "The Hulk"... and those in our "news media" have been turning poor Tim Russert into Edward R. Murrow all week, 17 more American service men have already been killed in the war in Iraq just this month. (I send my heartfelt condolences to Mr. Russert's family, loved ones, colleagues and friends. But, a little perspective, please.)

Osama Bin Laden was responsible for the deaths of around 3,000 people.

To date, George W. Bush and those who voted for him are responsible for the deaths of 4,101 Americans and countless, countless.... upwards of 100,000 Iraqi civilian deaths. (Men, women and children.)

I've said this often... art is very often a tool. It's most often a "mirror" to help reflect the world around us. But sometimes, it's also a "hammer" that helps shape the world around us.

You young guns out there! You singer/songwriters under 30 years old!
