D'oh!!!

A very nice woman named Vicky who hangs out at "The Hill" in Central Park and visits the website regularly caught a glaring error in yesterday's update.

The ALS benefit I'm doing on May 17th?

It's not in Wantagh!

It's at the Mulcahy's in Centereach, Long Island... waaaaayyy the hell out near Lake Ronkonoma.

(Good catch)

Here's the flyer. It's got all the correct information on it. In case you live out on the Island and you missed the initial announcement, I was asked by this really nice guy to be a part of a benefit concert to raise money to help fight a horrible, horrible disease... ALS. (Or, Lou Gerhig's Disease)

Now, here's the thing. I said it was in Wantagh. It's not. It's in Centereach. Okay? As it gets closer, I'll tell you a personal story about ALS, how it relates to "The Hill in Central Park and why I was so honored to be asked to help out. (PLUS, I think it's gonna be a really fun show.)

NEXT UP!

Sorry if you're one of the people who headed out to the park yesterday looking for "Opening Day". Yeah, the Sun came out for about 15 minutes. But, it really was too damned cold, windy and wet to launch the new season. Keep checking back to see if we'll get lucky next Saturday. I really can't wait to get back out there and hang with all of you.

I know there are people reading this across the country and in different parts of the world where it's still Spring.... but, here in New York City, Autumn has made a brief comeback. But, the great weather is right around the corner.

Check back all week fr the plans about the next BIG concert at H.I. New York. Maybe... maybe if May is looks like it's gonna wash out, or if it looks like the Permit Office is going to go ahead with their plans to arbitrarily withhold some of the Special Events Permits, we'll begin scheduling some outdoor events in the back yard property of the new music venue on the Upper West Side, H.I. New York Performance Hall.

H.I.N.Y. (Amsterdam Ave. @ 103 St.)

But right now... I think we're gonna do something BIG on the weekend on June 7th!!!

(I'll let you know more aas soon as the plans are solid.)

ALSO! I know money's tight for everyone. But, we could still use a little help with the...

Okay... NEXT UP!

I'll have some information posted here about how YOU can be involved in a new documentary film about my buddy, Sid Bernstein.

ABOUT SID BERNSTEIN!

I have a good friend.

His name is Sid.

Okay, if you've been coming to this site you know that I always have some very special guests on stage with me at my concerts, right?

Well, Sid is almost always in the audience. And, he's wanted to be involved somehow in all the gigs I'm doing. He's living an amazing life. Seriously. He's done so much to make this world a better place it's just amazing and he keeps dreaming new dreams. (That's one reason he wanted to put his name on this new concert series at H.I. New York Performance Hall.)

But, for the few of you who don't know... Sid changed American music history forever when he introduced The Beatles to America.

. .

Besides that, he brought The Rolling Stones here... ABBA... countless others. He also played such a huge and underrated role in breaking the racial barriers down in this country by being the first promoter to book white and black acts on the same rock 'n roll bill. (He also made James Brown the very first rock n soul act in Madison Square Garden.) He discovered and managed The Rascals. He's also been humbly on the front lines of political activism from the rise of the Nazis, to the current corruption of the American government, from the civil rights movement to the recent assault on The Constitution... he speaks with presidential candidates and people who have no voice. And he has always spoken out where and when there's been a need. Over his lifetime, he's been some amazing places with some amazing people. (Anyway... you just hafta read his book.)

So, Sid has been a promoter, a producer, a manager, an activist for Truth and Reason... he's been immersed in the music business his whole, long life. But he's never played one note. And, he's never written a song.

Until now.

Listen... not that long ago, Sid left a message on my voice mail that became the inspiration and hook-lyric for a brand new song. So, I wrote it... and this is what I did! I recorded a rough demo... a scratch track of this song for you to listen to right now so that you can get your mind and your heart around the song. IT'S NOT FINISHED!!! Some of the lyrics still need work. But you can get the idea. THEN, when you show up at the next gig in June, you'll be able to sing it loud and let it rip with everyone else!

Cool?

Here... click on this logo to learn the song.

Okay... I'm still in a really interesting mood right now. I wanna give you guys some FREE downloads of a couple more songs I'm working on. Y'know... works-in-progress. AND, a couple of the more socially-minded or socially conscious songs I've done recently. (Click on the links and they're yours, okay?

Hey!!! I was thinking. One of these days really soon I'm gonna roll out a "Best Of" gallery of all the political cartoons and photoshop images from this site over the past few years. (I've had a lot of fun doing them.)

Check back for that.

And, like I said... check back for the announcement about the next concert at H.I. New York Performance Hall, as well. In fact, early this week I'll be announcing the next date for he next BIG concert event we'll do in that brand new venue. It might even be an outdoor event in their block-long backyard! (More about that really soon.)
