TODAY I'VE GOT 2 PIECES OF REALLY GOOD NEWS!!!
Two completely separate items of really good, good news!
I'm tellin' you! This is GREAT! It has to do with something I saw... or rather what I didn't see while I was monitoring these 3 cable news networks yesterday, April 2.
.
.
But first, I wanna thank you all for making me "That Guitar Man from Central Park"...

...and I wanna thank every single person who showed up at the concert last weekend, featuring Christine Lavin and Galia Arad.
The first piece of NEWS!

.
It's time for us to get together for the very first run at the new series...
.

This Friday night at 7:30, at H.I. New York Performance Hall we're gonna shoot the very first segment of the new show "What's Behind the Song".
Okay, y'know that show on Bravo called "Inside the Actor's Studio". Well, this is gonna be like that... only more fun... and all about music people. This is gonna be about the people who make music, the people who love music, the people who've made a life in music. It's gonna be all about you guys in the studio audience asking questions and making comments. It's all about the mysterious Creative process.
Hopefully, this intimate studio audience will include fellow-singer/songwriters, people from the music business, legendary promoter Sid Bernstein... and YOU.
If you're not already holding your ticket, you can still be a part of this special night. There are still seats available. (Every seat is just $10 - general admission.) Click on this button to place your name on the guest list at the door:
Or just pay at the door tomorrow night. My first guest interview is a great guy, gifted songwriter and a guy with a very, very interesting career in music... Mr. Jake Holmes.

Okay now... the doors will open at 7:00 and he show will kick off at 7:30. This will be a "pilot" of sorts for th series. It will be recorded and the series of hows will either be shopped to a network or streamed independently over the internet. (That way all of you who visit this website from different parts off the country and different parts of the world can also be a part of this. It's all about music, Love... Life. Very cool.
Okay...
BIG BIG NEWS!!!!
On a completely separate note! This is GREAT!!!
I'm an independent artist and because of the nature of what I do, I work out of my home. I'm usually sitting at the computer, or with a guitar in my lap or with a phone in my ear. I keep a television on in the next room with the sound down so I can keep up with what's going on in the world. (I watch a LOT of CSPAN.) But yesterday, I began watching all 3 cable networks yesterday around 8 am. By 9:00 I had noticed something, something wonderful... so I made a concerted effort to monitor all 3 for the rest of the daytime hours.
.
.
.
After hours and hours of watching, it became clear to me... and so I want to be the first to announce it here.
.
.

.
GREAT NEWS!!!
.
.
Because unless one slipped by me, there was not ONE news story about the war in Iraq until around 2:40 pm on CNN. I never saw ONE story on MSNBC and not ONE on Fox. Of course, a conservative estimate of the Iraqi civilians killed in the month of March alone hovers around 1000 ... nearly 1000 more Iraqi people dead in the surging violence... according to iraqicasualties.org - 976 men, women and children. NOT ONE story on the war on MSNBC or FOX, and only one by mid-afternoon on CNN. (Unscientific and incomplete monitoring, because it 's just me alone. But, you get the idea.)
Of course, we ONLY lost another 38 Americans in the nightmare over there in the month of March and I guess that's acceptable to some people.... 432 in the last few month since this administration announced that their surge was "working".
But, 1000 more Iraqis... not that anyone at the news networks or in the Bush administration or a large percentage of the American public apparently give a shit.
Please, please, please... pay attention. And I promise I'll keep writing about it and writing songs that might supply an alternative to "American Idol" and "Dancing With the Stars". If you guys keep showing up and promise to vote to make a difference... maybe as my friend Sid Bernstein says, "We'll keep hope alive."
See you back here tomorrow.
Thanks for everything
