Hey! I know this is a holiday for a lot of you. But, I've kinda got something I really need to say today. (A little further down the page.)
Not to put a blanket one your good times this weekend. Just something that needs to be said.
But, first I hafta tell you.

We're gonna have one of those typically good, good times hangin' together... sharing a night of music and laughs... just that really, really good feeling we get out in Central Park...
ONE WEEK FROM last night!
Next Saturday night at 7:30
Y'know?
I just had a great time on Friday sitting with my guest artist, Galia, to kick around some music and ideas for what we're gonna do next Saturday. Man! You guys are gonna dig her! She really makes music for all the right reasons. And, like I said... my good friend and colleague, Christine Lavin has said she would show up to do a couple of songs and be a part of this new concert series in this brand new venue on the Upper West Side of Manhattan - - the H.I. New York Performance Hall
.
My two musical guests, Christine Lavin and Galia - and maybe a couple of surprises.
We're gonna have a blast, the audience is gonna be filled with other artists, music people, music lovers... well, if you've ever been to one of my gigs, you know what the feeling is like. This is gonna be a typically special night. AND, we're all gonna be able to make this new venue into our musical home of sorts. Y'know, a place you can check outoften to see what's going on there. this concert is just the beginning. Janet Kirker and David Marcus are gonna be on stage with me again. It's gonna be a blast.
.
H.I New York Performance Hall - Amsterdam Ave @ 103rd Street
You can show up that night and pay cash at the door. (It's only $20 for any seat.) AND... it's kinda 2-for-1. Because if you show up next Saturday, you'll get a ticket to attend the first taping of the music series "What's Behind the Song" the following weekend for FREE! But there are only about 100 seats left. So, click on this thing if you wanna reserve seats right now. (This puts your name on the list at the door.)
.
"What's Behind the Song" is gonna be a 90 minute, interview/music/open-discussion show with questions from the audience all about the mysterious and wonderful Creative process of songwriting.... with various songwriters. (Who, as you know, are generally a crazy bunch of people.) This oughta be really cool. We're gonna shoot these things, edit them down and put them all on DVD.
You're invited to attend the very first one the following Friday, April 4th at H.I.N.Y.
If you come to the concert on the 29th, you'll receive a ticket to the taping the next weekend for FREE!!! My first guest is a great guy and a wonderful songwriter with a really interesting career.... Jake Holmes.

Okay...
...before I get to the podcasts.
YOU ARE GOING TO WANT TO CHECK BACK THIS WEEK FOR A COUPLE OF A BRAND NEW INSTALLMENTS OF "WHERE'S THE VOICE". I think you're gonna wanna pick up the phone and leave a comment or opinion about these shows as well. Because I think it's time I started paying real attention around here again.
Are we all getting comfortable now that Spring is here and it's a holiday weekend?
So far this month 23 more American families have lost their loved ones in an illegal, immoral and unAmerican war in Iraq.
Nearly... 600 Iraqis have lost their lives there... THIS MONTH!!!
I've gotta start paying attention again! DAMMIT!
And, mark my words... you heard it here.
It's about to explode again.
Now, I completely understand George W. Bush to be a lost soul. This is an intellectually challenged, swaggering, over-aged frat boy who doesn't have a clue what the founding principles of this country are really all about. But, the thing that sent me over the edge this week was listening to the most arrogant, spiritually vacant, low-life I've seen in any administration in my lifetime.

Smirking through his words the entire time.

(And, if you're not outraged and insulted... you're just not paying attention.)
'nough said for today.
Pick up the phone and leave your thoughts and feelings. I'll play them on the upcoming shows. If you still support this administration and this disgraceful nightmare of a war... I ESPECIALLY WANNA HEAR FROM YOU! Try to help me understand.
Moving on.
Have fun with this stuff! Y'know? Some of the music I write speaks to what's goin' on in this country and in the world. One of the new tracks... well... I did a little rough, scratch track demo of the tune and it's here for you guys to listen to and let me know what you think about the subject matter. Gimme a shout, leave a comment... let me know how you feel about what the song says, okay? Man! I wrote this little song to be as fair minded and pointed as I'm capable of being.... so, it'll probably piss off everybody! Gonna be fun to try it out LIVE. Here's my phone number.

I'm sure this song will change a little bit before I do it LIVE at H.I.N.Y. But, let me know what you think of the spirit of the track.
Very, very cool.
