You wanna hear something that is kinda ridiculous!?

Um... I'll get to that in a minute.

But first, welcome to the website. If you're new around here, hit the "Archive" button and catch up a little if you feel like it! This whole website came about because here in New York City I'm known as "That Guitar Man from Central Park" and I have been for the past 16 years. (I'm a very lucky man.)

I'll have news about the "Year-End Concert" very soon. And both podcasts are growing a global audience. It's all very cool. Damn! I love my life.

Now... here's the ridiculous thing!!! This is bizarre! (It might all work out. But, you'll hafta check back.)

It looks like I'm NOT gonna be able to share music and laughs with you guys this Saturday like I usually do. The Permit Office in the Parks Department has this idea that I'm playing on Hernshead, where couples like to hold their wedding ceremonies. (I'm not technically on Hernshead. But, okay... it's close.)

Still, this weekend there is a wedding at 3:00 - so I was denied the Special Events Permit....again. Although there really is NO conflict, I guess the Parks Department still doesn't get that most of the wedding couples LOVE sharing the day with me and you guys. The permit people don't want me to bother the wedding. I understand their concern... but, it's just misplaced.

Well... LAST NIGHT, THROUGH THIS WEBSITE, I GOT A PHONE CALL FROM THE COUPLE THAT'S GETTING MARRIED THIS WEEKEND! They said they picked that spot in Central Park because I'm there singing. They figured they could ask me to play a couple of songs for them and then share their special day with all of you... first dance and all.

So... they called Claudia Pepe who runs the permit office and asked if I could be issued the permit to play from 3:00 to 6:00.

The answer is still NO!

Go figure.

Ha!

Keep checking back for the latest. Maybe Claudia will come through and be the heroine in all this. But, right now... the word is NO MUSIC this Saturday.

However, there is music on today's episode of "I Love the Company". Episode #325 of the original "I Love the Company". Playing a bunch of your phone messages and a coupe of tracks from two women I'm gonna go see tonight at The Bitter End.

Just click on this logo, plug in your headphones, jam in your earbuds or turn on your speakers and listen.(You can always subscribe to the show and get it automatically by hitting that itunes button over there.)

VIDEO TIME!

(Click on these images to check out a few videos in recent weeks.) First... This past Saturday we had PIZZA DAY! I have a little video of a bunch of cool people from all over the country and all around the world hangin' out, sharing music, a few laughs... and some kick-ass New York pizza from Big Nick's on Broadway!

Click on this image to watch the video

I just lose it sometimes and wanna do something crazy like buy everybody pizza or hot dogs or something. Yeah, it's true that it;s my way of saying "Thank You" to all of you. (But, I'm not that noble... or nice. I mean, I also just love being in the middle of a uniquely New York kinda happening!)

THEN... kinda what I was talking about. Another young couple got married while I was playing and they asked me if they could share their "first dance" with us. (They're from Bristol in the UK and wanted a uniquely New York wedding.)

We gave it to them. (Just another spontaneous, out-of-nowhere NY moment.)

Then... another couple from a few weeks ago.

NOW... PICK UP THE PHONE AND BE HEARD!

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
