If you live here in New York City, get out there and enjoy this summer-like-beginning-of-Fall. Maybe our season isn't quite over in Central Park.

Of course it all depends on the weather, and the bureaucracy, and kindness-level of the people working in The Parks Department. Keep your fingers crossed.

One really gratifying thing that came out of this week and this weekend for me was the outpouring of sentiment from hundreds of people through email and phone messages when you guys heard what was up with the "paperwork" this weekend!

AND... I DISCOVERED THAT ALL OF YOU WOULD LIKE A PLACE ONLINE TO HANG OUT AND COMMUNICATE WITH EACH OTHER!! Share thoughts, photos, videos, ideas... get to know each other a little; people from all across the country and all around the world who've hung out with me in Central Park!!!

Well James Marino, "The Evil Genius" has set this up!!! Go check it out. (As soon as I get a minute, I'm gonna jump in there too.)

It's a FACEBOOK GROUP for all of you to belong to.

YOUR OWN FACEBOOK GROUP

Y'know, I told you guys that yesterday we weren't granted the usual Special Events Permit to hang out at "The Hill". (That's happened a few times this year because of these weddings that happen out on Hernshead and in The Ladies Pavilion. Kinda dumb. I mean, there's never any conflict. I'm not technically on Hernshead and I always honor the ceremony by shutting up for a time and by inviting the newlyweds for their first dance. It's just a wonderful, uniquely New York thing! (You can actually get the audio explanation of the whole thing a little further down the page. ) But, hell! IT RAINED ANYWAY yesterday!!!

Y'know? One of these days.... someday... maybe someday, The Parks Department will kinda think of me as an "asset" to this beautiful park rather than a liability or a problem. They do such a great job running Central Park, making it such a wonderful backyard for New Yorkers and visitors from all around the planet. It's an enormous job. But, I get weary of always feeling like I'm a problem for a few of those guys. I mean, I've been "That Guitar Man from Central Park" for 16 years now. I have the most amazing stories and have met the most beautiful, incredible, interesting, Creative and kindest people from all across the country and all around the world out there.... just by sharing my music with them. I've played my songs now for hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people. And, I'm thinking all of them feel that you guys, "The People on the Hill", are a great example of the amazing people that live in the greatest city in earth.

I think some people might feel that what I do out there is a nice addition to a jewel in the crown of this town, and it doesn't cost the city a nickel... not in payment, not in advertising, not in promotion. Damn! I even supply the free hot dogs or pizza once in a while!

But... oh well.

I love my life and my work and you guys, and that's what matters most to me. And, I appreciate the work it takes to make Central Park special. (I guess today I just wish The Parks Department felt the same way about me someday.)

Just for fun... HERE'S THE OFFICIAL EXPLANANTION! It's a Special, Special, short edition of "I Love the Company" for you to listen to with some of the phone calls I've received about yesterday and an audio explanation. Might clear up a lot of the questions you guys had!!! Might actually be kinda fun! (Click on this image to listen)

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
