Okay I'm gonna be right back... I promise.

In the meantime, you can catch up with yesterday's update about Saturday. It'll give you an idea of why I say that yesterday was such a comeback!

Here...

********

PART OF YESTERDAY'S UPDATE:

Saturday started out great.... typically wonderful. Playin' music, hangin' with the nicest people on the face of the earth, enjoying a few hours together in the greatest city on the planet.

But, suddenly... the energy got rocked.

Rocked by a woman who calls herself a minister.... really incongruous state of affairs if you ask me. (Ah, maybe she was just havin' an off-day. We all have 'em.) But, if you were there, you know what I'm talkin' about. In the 15 years I've been playing music in that spot, I have never once given anybody a hard time who's asked me to accommodate them for something like a little wedding ceremony that might take place nearby. (Especially in the "Ladies Pavillion" behind me.) I always either stop playing for a little while, or play very quiet little love songs and "story" songs until the ceremony is over.

But, this woman apprroached me, literally shaking with anger. Instead of telling me what she was doing and asking politely if I would keep it down during her thing, she kinda barked at me and asked abruptly if I had a permit. (Yes. Yes, I do.) Then telling me she was gonna call the Parks Department to complain and all this confrontational nonsense.

Just very mean-spirited and totally unecessary.

The really Good news is that in my Life, there is always a balancing act going on. I treated her a nicely as I could and, as is always the way when I come from a place of Love instead of fear like this woman, there were actually 2 weddings goin' on. And the other minister, a tall man with a great white beard and kindness in his eyes, balanced the whole thing out.

And, to make this womnan's anger and assault even more ridiculous... her wedding party was nearly an hour late getting started, and the whole thing took about 12 minutes.

Jeeesh!

Anyway, then... it started to rain so I stopped and began packing up the equipment. But THEN... people started to gather around a really nice guy who apparently was having either a heart attack or an episode of severe low blood pressure or something.... passed out... then Damn! He stopped breathing.

Seriously.

The people all gathered. Raised the guys legs up in the air and this other guy... the guy in the picture (His name is Kevin.) ... performed mouth-to-mouth on the guy and started him breathing again. Then, everybody just calmly hung out until the ambulence arrived and made sure the guy was alright.

(Y'know, that's one rule I kind of insist upon most days. There will be no dying on "The Hill".)

But, man... interesting day. I lead a very interesting life, y'know?

Okay... go check out the Podcast. And, call the phone number I give you today to leave a message for me, or leave a comment about the show!

Now, I also would ask you guys to click on this link and let me know what you think of the new MySpace page. And, if you're on MySpace as well, would you do the "friend" thing and spread the word around the internet that I finally showed up in there?

(Man! I'm slow sometimes.)

Cool?

Okay... gotta get runnin' again.

Remember... THERE WILL BE A NEW SHOW ON "I LOVE THE COMPANY" EVERY DAY THIS WEEK!!! So, subscribe by clicking on the iTunes button over there so you don't miss any of 'em.

If you've been comin' around for a while, thanks for always showing up... here and in the park. And if you're brand new here, take a look around. There's a lot of cool stuff on this site. And, you can go back and listen through a whole bunch of the previous Podcasts. Actually... you can go back and listen to all of them if you have the time.

You can also email me about anything you want by clicking on that "Contact" button over there. I can't answer all the email I get these days. But I promise I read every single one.

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
