Welcome to the website.

Okay... hate to be a "kill-joy" so to speak.

But, before you get all up in the air about an air strike that killed one more horrible person in the world... (Abu Musab al-Zarqawi) ...know something that you won't hear so readily from the mainstream news media or certainly this White House.

While Rumsfeld and Bush call Zarqawi a "mastermind", (Well to George Bush, a ripe melon is a mastermind) ...Zarqawi was widely considered a dim bulb. No one truly ever thought he was either very bright or a very organized leader of any kind. He simply became a symbol for the American government to point to... a face on a "Wanted Dead or Alive" poster, if you will.

Almost immediately after the air strike, practically before the smoke had even cleared, this statement was released by his associates.

"We want to give you the joyous news of the martyrdom of the Mujahed Sheik Abu Musab al-Zarqawi," said the statement, signed by Abu Abdel-Rahman al-Iraqi, identified as the deputy "emir" or leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq. "The death of our leaders is life for us. It will only increase our persistence in continuing holy war so that the word of God will be supreme," it said. It compared the death of al-Zarqawi to the death of Islam's prophet Muhammad in the 7th Century, after which Muslim armies continued their expansion. "What has occurred to the Islamic nation is like what happened after the death of the Prophet, peace be upon him, as the nation continued fighting and conquering. The nation continued to give birth to more men. We tell our sheik and emir, Osama bin Laden, God protect him, that your soldiers of al-Qaida in Iraq are carrying on in the same plan set by sheik Abu Musab. We will continue the path of our sheik and our emir, Abu Musab. Between us and them (the Americans) there will be a fierce battle, and those infidels will see their punishment."

So, here at this website we will continue to pay attention to the bullshit that got us involved in an irrelevant and immoral war in Iraq after 9-11, and to facts like the 15 innocent Iraqi civilians that were killed in the fighting this morning, the 2,484 American service people who have died in the past 3 years, and the possibly 30 to 100,000 Iraqis who have died so far.

Please be sure to listen to "The Wednesday Wake-Up Call" on "I Love the Company".

Okay, and now... let's see what's going on here at That Guitar Man for today.

A lot goin' on!

First of all... TODAY is another Women's Day on ILTC. So, just click on this logo and give it a listen. (Or, download it into your mp3 player and take it with you to listen whenever and wherever you want.)

It's actually a fun show today.

Go ahead... click this logo.

Check this out. The music on today's show come from these women. (Click on the photos to visit their websites.)

. . .

They are Cassie Kubinski, Teresa James, Laura Clapp and Shayna Steele.

Look at these faces. Listen to these voices. Check out the smiles and the energy. A little bit different than the woman who was addressed on yesterday's show, hah?

Right-wing horror show,
Ann Coulter

Yeah... I love the company I keep. (That's why I wrote the song after all.) Tell a freind or two to check out the Podcast, okay? Check out yesterday's "Wake-Up Call" too, if you feel like it. Webnaster James Marino has the shows archived over there on the right.

Thanks.

Now!

Tomorrow night... FRIDAY NIGHT.

I'm gonna begin the "Sunset Concert Series" on Pier 45 at the end of Christopher Street in the Village. The music cranks up at 7:00 and we sing the sun down until 9:00.

Very cool.

Then, I'm gonna be back in Central Park on Saturday afternoon. Try to make it out there this week. Thid Saturday marks the weekend that I went to "The Hill" for the very first time... 15 years ago. Come on out and celebrate that fact with me.

Plus... a crew from the PBS stations on Japanese television is gonna come out to begin a year-long story on Central Park. And, they're gonna do two segments on... uh... on me! (One this weekend and then a more in depth piece this fall.)

Also... very cool.

Okay, gotta get to work.

See you soon.

Thanks for everything.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
