Hey, welcome to the website.

Sorry there was no update yesterday. Just hadda take a step back, have a wonderful day, and get ready for today... and "What Now?"

So...

.

.

Man! The websmaster of this site, James Marino, and myself... we're both really excited about launching the audio-Podcasts in preparation for ramping up the video-Podcasts from Central Park this summer. Well, as soon as the weather gets warm enough and the fence around "The Hill" comes down. (And, no... not those little audio clips over there on the right. We're talking about real Podcasts. More in a minute.)

Hey, first of all... thanks for stopping by today. Seriously.

Y'know, this year is the 15th year that I've been known as "That Guitar Man from Central Park".

That is sooooo cool to me.

But, this year is really gonna be something special. I'm very excited about it. For one thing, I'm bringing a whole bunch of new songs out to "The Hill" this season. And, I'm gonna make a point of having special guests stop by to hang with me each week. (As the summer goes along, I will let you know who they are here at the website.)

Plus, starting very soon... this website is gonna be even more fun to visit every day. Free music to download, interviews, Video Podcasts, a radio show that you can download and take with you, original cartoons, Photoshop stuff, links to other cool websites.

Oh, but please... if you don't have an open mind, an open heart, a sense of humor, a sense of reason, or a love for the tradition of American folk music and kick ass rock 'n roll... don't bother hangin' out with me, okay?

(I don't need the negativity in my life. Take it down the road and be well, okay?)

I get such a kick out of people who try to tell me what to write, what to sing, and what to say. I mean, it's cool that you've all got an opinion. And, you all can express it it anywhere you want! But... I'm a free thinker, and a completely independent artist... and man.

(Cracks me up.)

Look... my music has never been for everyone. If it's not for you... see ya!

But, if you love to sing, love to smile, laugh, share basic Truths with each other, and truly enjoy the amazing adventure that is this Life... then, this is gonna be your kinda place!

Um... ooookay. About the Podcasts.

If you're a little bit confused by the whole "Podcasting" thing, don't worry. You're not alone.

Nobody really understands where it's all going. But, the potential is awesome and it is a big part of the future of entertainment on the internet. All you hafta know right now is that it's basically like a radio show on your computer that you can listen to or download and take with you in your mp3 player. That's all.

And, then once a week... we'll have a video camera out in Central Park, or down at Pier 54 in The Village, or over in Riverside Park, or at any of the venues I'm gonna be playing this year. If you're at the gig, chances are you will be part of the show. Y'see, we'll shoot video of you guys singing, maybe give some of you a chance to say "Hey" to friends and family in different parts of the country or different parts of the world, and then make the video available for the whole world to see here at thatguitarman.com the following Monday.

Very cool.

Things are changing sooooo fast.

Um, y'know... I have a lot of work to do today to begin getting ready for these big changes. So, I'm gonna cut this update a little short. (Actually, Podcasting oughta cut down on the "typing" part of these daily updates quite a bit. That will be a very cool thing for me!

So, here... here's a link to a FREE song and a couple of videos I wanna share with you today... just to give you an idea of the awesome potential of your computer and what's possible on the internet.

(Just click on the photo to hear "A different Cowboy's Lament" and download it for FREE.)

And, then... here.

Here are a couple of things that will demonstrate two different but kinda-related things. One will show you Dick Cheney being caught in a bald-faced lie... click on Dick's flaming behind!

And, this one shows you how much fun all different kinds of people can be when asked the same question. (Click on George Bush's illegal Spy Kit.)

.

.

Okay, have fun today.

Be cool to each other.

Oh, and once again... THANK YOU! To all of you who are helping out with this year's Permit Fund.

Seriously.

It makes things easier.

Very soon I'll try to send a personal "Thank You" email to every one of you, okay?

If you feel like helping out with this year's "Permit fund"... now would be a good time to do it. I put the paperwork and fees in for most of the permits to play on "The Hill" in Central Park already. If everything goes smoothly, and it doesn't rain like it did last Spring, we'll be hanging out together before you know it.

So if you feel like it, the webmaster James Marino has made it really easy. There are two buttons over there on the right. PayPal actually keeps a smaller percentage of your donation. But, either method is good.

But, only if you feel like it and only if you can afford to help out. Remember, it's most important to me that you show up... with or without your money.

If you feel like emailing me about anything at all, just click on the "Contact" button. I can't answer all the email I get. But, I promise I eventually read every single one. And, listen. I know there are people reading this in different parts of the country and different parts of the world. If you're new here, go on and register in the message board ("Forum") and say "Hey". And, take a look through the "Archives" to see what we've been up to. There's alotta fun stuff in there... FREE songs to download, original political cartoons I've drawn... all kindsa stuff.

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
