Hey... what's goin' on in your life today? You good?

Man! I know there are people reading this in different parts of the country and different parts of the world. But, here in New York yesterday, every kind of precipitation that Mother Nature ever invented fell out of the sky... rain, hail, sleet, snow, freezing rain, slush. (I swear, slush was falling out of the sky.) Sloppy, sloppy day.

Got me really looking forward to those warm afternoons in Central Park when we hang and share music and laughs.

I'm gonna spend a little time later today with my guitar in my lap, kinda looking at the songs that I bring out to the park with me this summer. Sure, I'll bring all the tunes you guys have loved to sing with me in the past. But, I really wanna bring a whole shitload of new songs with me this year.... some of my own, and many written by other songwriters. I'm also really looking forward to sharing the "Hill" experience with a few other artists who might wanna sit in for a few songs on a Saturday afternoon in the park. I kinda wanna make having really wonderful "guest artists" a part of the gig for you guys this year.

Oh listen... I asked this yesterday.

If you're new here at the website, would you do me a favor?

If you dig it, would you turn a few more friends on to it? Just send them the link and ask them to check it out, too? And, maybe take a few minutes to register in the "Forum" (message board) and say "Hi".

Thanks.

So, what else is goin' on today?

Well, for one thing... I have planned to clear some time next week to fire up my digital work station and kick around a few new songs I've been writing. I really need to get some of this music out of my soul, off my mind, out of my heart and onto paper. I feel like new songs are circling around like planes at an airport... waiting for clearance to land.

This past week I also had a conversation with the beautiful and talented Lisa Regal... about America, what many of it's people have become, the direction it's been heading in the past 5 years, and the feelings it's aroused in politically-independent, free-thinking people like me who actually think the principles this country was founded on are beautiful and Good. The thrust of the conversation was... "When are reasonable people of every political stripe gonna wake up and say, ' Enough is enough'?"

I mean... seriously... how ugly do things hafta get? How obvious does the juggernaut of Truth hafta get before it breaks through the thick armor of fear-based denial?

I'm gonna write more on this this weekend. But, for sure... there is a new song here.

I look at things these days with a quiet kind of fascination. ? I would almost call it amusement, if so many people weren't suffering and dying. So, no... it's not amusement at all. But, it is a quiet kind of fascination.

I mean... look at these men!

.

.

.

Seriously.

.

.

.

Oh man!

.

.

Yeah, more about that this weekend.

In the meantime, I heard a really cool song this morning on the radio. (Funny, I never listen to the radio. And, I never use an alarm click to wake up. I just naturally wake up around 7:00 every morning.)

But, I set the radio-alarm clock this morning because I wanted to get a good start on the day. I have a couple of appointments downtown. And, damn! Wouldn't y'know... a great song that I wanna cover this summer woke me up.

Very cool. Just the first gift of a new day.

My days are filled with lotsa those kindsa gifts when I'm really paying attention.

Anyway, gotta get going.

Um, listen. As I always say... if you're new here hit the "Archive" button okay? There are a few original cartoons in yesterday's update. And, if you go back through the updates, you'll find a lot of fun things... FREE song downloads, Photoshop things, other cartoons.

Have fun.

And like I said, there's also a "Forum" (message board) for you guys to hang out in with each other.

And, if you wanna email me about anyting at all, just hit the "Contact" button.

Oh yeah. And, once again... THANK YOU!

To all of you who are helping out with this year's Permit Fund.

Seriously.

It makes it easier.

Once I get settled in this new place I'll try to send a personal "Thank You" email to every one of you, okay?

If you feel like helping out with this year's "Permit fund"... now would be a good time to do it. I put the paperwork and fees in for most of the permits to play on "The Hill" in Central Park already. If everyting goes smoothly, and it doesn't rain like it did last Spring, we'll be hanging out together before you know it.

So if you feel like it, the webmaster James Marino has made it really easy. There are two buttons over there on the right. PayPal actually keeps a smaller percentage of your donation. But, either method is good.

But, only if you feel like it and only if you can afford to help out. Remember, it's most important to me that you show up... with or without your money.

Okay, gotta get to work.

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
