Hi... welcome to the website. Thanks for stopping by today.

Cold, cold weekend!

But, officially we are only 16 days away from the Spring equinox... the beginning of another Spring.

YAY!!!

Oh, hey.. before anything else today.

A friend of mine who is a really funny and gifted songwriter, Bobby Mitchell, sent me a heads-up email this morning, telling me that one of my new songs is being played this weekend on the ol' Dr. Demento Show.

I haven't heard about Dr. Demento in a million years. I didn't know he was still around or on the air.

In case you don't know or are too young to remember.... Dr. Demento has hosted a radio show since the 60s that plays only funny, outrageous or novelty songs. (Along the lines of Weird Al Yankovic.) Don't ask me how, but they got their hands on "A different Cowboy's Lament"

(I wonder if it was Chrisitne Lavin, again. She's one of the most generous, caring and supportive fellow-artists I've ever met.)

Anyway, here's the playlist I found online. I suppose it's gonna air tomorrow, March 5th.

Kinda cool.

Y'know, I have not been poking my head into the "Forum" (message board) these days. I figure it is there for you guys. (I get to write whatever I please on this homepage.) But, the "Forum" is a place for all of you to get to know each other and talk about whatever you want.

A while back I had asked the webmaster of this site (James Marino) to take the message board down. It was getting out of control with a few really unfortunate people who were driving the nicer people away. But, while I was in Guadeloupe playing music on a sandy beach a few weeks ago, James fired up the old message board again... with very clear guidelines to who and how people would be welcome to post in there.

If you're new here, or if you've been stopping by here for a while, and especially if you don't live in or around New York City and you wanna stay in touch with the Central Park "Hill People".... by all means go on in there, register and speak your mind and say what's in your heart.

But, be cool. James has assured me that those who would abuse the privilege will be denied access.

Okay?

As far as I'm concerned, I'm just really excited about diggin' in and get the digital workstation all cranked up this week to start making music in this new space I just moved into on Manhattan's Upper West Side. I wonder what songs are gonna come down.

Oh yeah. And, once again... THANK YOU!

To all of you who are helping out with this year's Permit Fund.

Seriously.

It makes it easier.

Once I get settled in this new place I'll try to send a personal "Thank You" email to every one of you, okay?

If you feel like helping out with this year's "Permit fund"... now would be a good time to do it. I put the paperwork and fees in for most of the permits to play on "The Hill" in Central Park already. If everyting goes smoothly, and it doesn't rain like it did last Spring, we'll be hanging out together before you know it.

So if you feel like it, the webmaster James Marino has made it really easy. There are two buttons over there on the right. PayPal actually keeps a smaller percentage of your donation. But, either method is good.

But, only if you feel like it and only if you can afford to help out. Remember, it's most important to me that you show up... with or without your money.

By the way... I was talkin' on the phone yesterday to my pal "Dodger" (Roger Bartlett) about beginning the process of making a CD out of The Voices Together Concert that we held last January. I'm gonna try to get that project set in motion this week.

Here are the artists who appeared that very special night.

(Click on each photo to visit their websites.)

. . . .

They are... Christine Lavin, Karlus Trapp, Modern Man, Roger Bartlett, Sam Leopold

Listen, I gotta get out there and get to work. If you feel like emailing me about anything at all, just click on the "Contact" button. I can't answer all the email I get. But, I promise I eventually read every single one. And, listen. I know there are people reading this in different parts of the country and different parts of the world. If you're new here, take a look through the "Archives" to see what we've been up to. There's alotta fun stuff in there... FREE songs to download, original political cartoons I've drawn... all kindsa stuff.

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
