Hey, y'know... it's the middle of the winter. And, it feels like we're a long, long way from the warm afternoons in Central Park that we love.

But, yesterday I went down to the Department of Parks and Recreation to file the applications for a Special Event Permit for every weekend, rain or shine, all summer through October. (Thanks to all of you who are helping out with the fees.)

Very cool.

I am truly the luckiest man alive.

Yeah... winter. But, I still play around town. And, if you're one of the people reading this in a different part of the country or a different part of the world... It's very possible that I WILL PLAY IN YOUR TOWN, TOO!

I'm serious.

I would most definitely travel to your part of the country or the world to share a night of music and laughs. I mean, we'll talk about it. Here's what you would hafta do.

Look around your town for a small community theater, or school auditorium, or church hall, or synagogue community center... or something like that. Find out how much it costs to rent it for a night.

Shoot me an email and tell me the numbers you find out, and the date you wanna get me out to wherever you are. I will send you a handful of posters to hang around town and postcards to hand out. See if you can get 100 of your friends to show up. (And, even ask them each to bring someone.) Tell them that there will be somebody at the door collecting just a twenty dollar bill for the concert.

Once you're sure that the hall, a small hotel room, and travel will be covered I'll make plans to show up and do a concert in your town. Then... keep selling tickets, and I'll keep whatever you raise at the door and whatever I make in CD sales.

Y'think?

Could be a blast.

In the meantime, here in New York City... my next gig is this coming Sunday night I'm gonna be at The Cutting Room. I'm gonna show up for my good, good friend Sid Bernstein. (The man who changed music history by bringing The Beatles to America in 1964.

Sid & me at Makor, for my "Common Ground" CD release concert.

Funny... I actually don't know that much about the gig on Sunday Night. Except that the artists on stage will all do a whole lotta Beatles music. (Can't go wrong startin' out with material like that!) It's an early gig. And, The Cutting Room is a great venue for music. So, Sunday evening... 6:00.

See you at The Cutting Room.

What else?

Oh yeah... I'm crackin' up.

I poked my head into the "Forum" yesterday.

I'd like to invite every sngle person reding this toay to jump in there and say "Hello" to each other. But... Ha! Hey... if you don't like the things I say or the music that I write... please, please, please take it down the road.

It's a big park, an big internet... and, an even bigger world.

I guess I should be flattered that I even piss some people off. I mean... really. Who gives a shit!? It's my job as an American singer/songwriter to write what I feel. And, it's my job as an artist to reflect and comment on the world around me. It's what we do.

(You want Donny Osmond? Um... he's still touring, I think.)

.

In the meantime... for everybody else? I'll be back tomorrow with a new cartoon. Since we have a man in the Oval Office who is flouting our Constitutional separation of powers, is flagrantly breaking a 1978 law, and has the ultimate crony in the Attorney General's seat... I think it's time for another one.

(Y'know, forget Republican, Democrat, Independent, Conservative, Liberal. As an American... if you're not outraged... you're really not paying attention.)

See you tomorrow.

Thanks for everything.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
