Hey, welcome to the website.

Yeah, this is the time. If you feel like helping out with this year's "Permit fund"... now would be a good time to do it.

But, only if you feel like it and only if you can afford to help out. Remember, it's most important to me that you show up... without or without your money.

So, if you feel like it, the webmaster James Marino has made it really easy. There are two buttons over there on the right. PayPal actually keeps a smaller percentage of your donation. But, either method is good.

Yeah, Spring felt like it arrived yesterday... but, it'll really be here before you know it.

Hard to believe that this past weekend winter was in full stride! Here's a photo of "The Hill" in the snow, sent in to the website by a nice guy and wonderful photographer named Sean Friedman. Next is "The Hill" in stark contrast, hah?

Ahhh, winter,

Ahhh, spring.

All in good time.

I'm running around like a crazy person today. Got a lot of things to take care of. And then, I'm playing my usual free gig over at Ronald McDonald House tonight for the families over there. (Man! I'm tellin' you... you want the definition of hope and courage? Hang out at Ronald McDonald House for a bit.)

Listen. I told you guys yesterday that I heard Willie Nelson's got a song that's makin' a lot of noise... about gay cowboys. ("Cowboys are Frequently Secretly Fond of Each Other") Well, actually Willie didn't write it. The song was written more than 20 years ago by songwriter Ned Sublette but was largely unknown until Willie, who contributed a song to the "Brokeback Mountain" soundtrack, decided to release it this week for download on iTunes.

Wille says, "The song's been in the closet for 20 years. The timing's right for it to come out."

I wrote a song late last year about a cowboy with a secret... a different kind of secret.

Here. It's a FREE download for you guys. (All you hafta do is click on this picture and listen or download it for FREE.)

Pass it around to all your friends.

"A different COWBOYS LAMENT"

Yesterday I sent a new mix of this song over to James Marino (webmaster). He's got a pretty cool idea for it.

We'll see what happens.

I also spoke with Peter Abraham over at The Cutting Room, and we nailed down a gig for February 28th. (the 7:30 show.) Thats a great music venue. I'm also already booked to do the 7:00 show at Birdland on May 1. I'll let you know more about that as it gets closer. Right now, I'm seriously thinking about making it a night to debut a whole bunch of brand new songs. (It's way past time to think about putting together a new CD for this year.)

Listen... I gotta run right now. Maybe I'll be back a little later.

But, if you're new here hit the "Archive" button okay? There is a new cartoon in yesterday's update. And, if you go back through the updates, you'll find a lot of fun things... FREE song downloads, Photoshop thing, cartoons.

Have fun.

Oh yeah. There's also a "Forum" (message board) for you guys to hang out in with each other.

And, if you wanna email me about anyting at all, just hit the "Contact" button.

Thanks again

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
