Welcome to the website.

I know there are people reading this in different parts of the country and different parts of the world. But, here in New York City, we've had three seasons this week. Winter, Spring... then, winter again.

Man, it got cold out there.

But, spring will be here in just a little while. Time really does fly. And, if you feel like helping out with this year's "Permit fund"... now would be a good time to do it. I put the paperwork and fees in for most of the permits to play on "The Hill" in Central Park already. If everyting goes smoothly, and it doesn't rain like it did last Spring, we'll be hanging out together before you know it.

So if you feel like it, the webmaster James Marino has made it really easy. There are two buttons over there on the right. PayPal actually keeps a smaller percentage of your donation. But, either method is good.

But, only if you feel like it and only if you can afford to help out. Remember, it's most important to me that you show up... without or without your money.

So, what's new today?

Well, quickly... here's something I shared with you guys yesterday. A nice guy named Sean Friedman hangs out with us in Central Park and he happens to be a fine photographer as well. He sent this photo of "The Hill" in the blizzard last week. I just dig the juxtaposition of these two photos. This is just one of the things I love about living in New York... a genuine change of seasons.

What else?

Well, I'm moving again.

(God, I love new things... new beginnings.) But, like everybody else, I hate the actual process of the apartment-move.) I think I've lived in every neighborhood in this town at least once. I'm just making a move of about two blocks this time. But, it's a Good move. I feel it.

Yeah... I feel it.

I am about the least religious man you will ever meet. However, my relationship with the Creative Spirit, or "God" if you must, is a very real and intensely personal relationship.

.

.

This is a Good move. I feel it. I know it.

.

.

I just gotta go out to the street today and find a few dozen cardboard boxes.... again.

And, that also means that one day this week I will probably miss an update, okay?

Hey, I did my usual little musical gig at Ronald McDonald House last night. Y'know? I say this all the time. If you wanna see the defintions of "courage", and "caring", and "service" and "hope", and "Love".... go to Ronald McDonald House or a place like it.

Man!

Gonna share this with all of you again. I told you guys this week that I heard Willie Nelson's got a song that's makin' a lot of noise... about gay cowboys. ("Cowboys are Frequently Secretly Fond of Each Other") Well, actually Willie didn't write it. The song was written more than 20 years ago by songwriter Ned Sublette but was largely unknown until Willie, who contributed a song to the "Brokeback Mountain" soundtrack, decided to release it this week for download on iTunes.

Wille says, "The song's been in the closet for 20 years. The timing's right for it to come out."

I wrote a song late last year about a cowboy with a secret... a different kind of secret.

Here. It's a FREE download for you guys. (All you hafta do is click on this picture and listen or download it for FREE.)

Pass it around to all your friends.

"A different COWBOYS LAMENT"

Yesterday I sent a new mix of this song over to James Marino (webmaster). He's got a pretty cool idea for it.

We'll see what happens.

Oh hey... one last thought before I go.

And, this is not for you guys who consider yourselves politically on the left, or whatever. If you are a right wing Republican... or, a conservative... or, whatever... please consider yourself a true American first, okay?

George W. Bush is continually and flagrantly breaking US law. Please write a quick letter to your Republican representatives and call for a special prosecutor and very possibly his impeachment.

This is a disgrace... and, our elected politicians in Washington are a collective disgrace, on both sides of the aisle.

As an Independent in every way, I can say that with clarity, conviction and an absolutely clear conscience. And, after Alberto Gonzales recent dog & pony show before Congress, I was inspired to draw this cartoon. (Don't really think it needs a caption, do you?)

Okay I gotta get to work.

If you're new here hit the "Archive" button okay? There is a new cartoon in yesterday's update. And, if you go back through the updates, you'll find a lot of fun things... FREE song downloads, Photoshop thing, cartoons.

Have fun.

Oh yeah. There's also a "Forum" (message board) for you guys to hang out in with each other.

And, if you wanna email me about anyting at all, just hit the "Contact" button.

Thanks again

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
