Hey... welcome to the wesite.

Today, I wanna tell you guys a little more about the ideas I'm kickin' around for the Voices Together Concert, which is comin' up here in New York City on January 28th. This is a concert to get very real and direct help to the civilians, the ordinary people who are suffering so terribly because of the war in Iraq. I'll tell you more about that effort in a minute, okay?

But, first... once again.

Thank you for showing up. I can see by the stats on this site that people visit here from all over the country and different parts of the world. I'm guessing that you probably spent at least a few hours with us one summer in Central Park. It's very cool, isn't it?

Hangin' in Central Park

Well, y'know, I've been sharing my music with you in Central Park for the past 14 years, now. Over the years I have met the most amazing people... people from all walks of life... and, extraordinary "ordinary" people.

It's just us.

Now, it's time for a whole bunch of friends and colleagues are gonna get together to do something very good and very necessary. The Voices Together Concert. It's comin' up in just 23 days. And, this is what I'm thinking.

A really fun songwriter's circle.

Have you ever been to a "circle"? They're really very cool. You get a bunch of songwriters on one stage and you go around the circle with each artist doing something they've written. One thing very often just leads to something unexpected. The night often becomes a kind of a musical "improv"... a kind of informal session among friends and colleagues. They're really fun to be a part of. If you have a good mix of artists who show up for all the right reasons, these things can turn into something special. Y'never know.

But, I can promise that the circle in Symphony Space on January 28th is gonna be a great night, because these are the artists who have assembled so far to help us out in the...

...Concert. (Click on the logo to visit the site.)

. . . .

They are... Christine Lavin, Karlus Trapp, Modern Man, Roger Bartlett, Sam Leopold... and me.

We're also hoping to announce a few very special guests who will be with us that night. Keep checking back here, okay?

If you wanna know more about the lineup so far, here are the links to their websites:

Christine Lavin
Roger Bartlett
George Wurzbach, Dave Buskin, Rob Carlson (aka Modern Man)
Karlus Trapp
Sam Leopold

But, y'know... at some point I may just jump into the audience and hang with you guys.

I think you're gonna hafta keep stopping by here at the website for announcements about other artists and guests that might be added to this effort. We're talking to some really cool people... Good people.

Oh, on a related note...

This concert is not a night of politics. It is not a night to be discussing issues.

This is going to be a night of purpose, compassion, laughter, some tears... but, mostly a night of music. This enitre effort is to get as much direct help as we can to the people who are being hurt the most as the result of the war in a part of our world known as Iraq.

Oh, me personally? You know me. I don't shy away from letting my feelings and thoughts known here on this website and in my songs. You can browse through the "Archives" over there on the right to catch the recent political cartoons and FREE downloadable songs.

Here's my latest offering with pen and pencil.

But... the Voices Together Concert is going to be a night when we can ALL come together and do something good... really make a difference in this world.

EVERY nickel of the proceeds from EVERY ticket you buy... all of it, is going to this effort. The beneficiaires of this concert, the people who are getting the best help to the ordinary citizens of Iraq, are both 501 (c)(3) groups. And so, the price of your ticket is tax deductible.

PLEASE get your tickets this week. And, PLEASE spread the word! We need as much help as we can get... getting help to those who need it most.

Look, there is a war going on... today... right now.

On the first day of this year, there were at least a dozen bombings.... 8 in Baghdad alone. In the first 5 days of this year, nearly 200 ordinary Iraqi people have already died in the fighting. It's unconscienable to ignore it. We cannot know how many more have been horribly injured in the past few days. How many civilian men, women... children.

Help us make a difference for the better, okay?

But, when it comes to ordinary people helping ordinary people... when it comes to this Voices Togther Concert... well, hopefully by the end of the week I'll have some reallly, really good news about a new development... something I'm working on.

All you hafta do to be a real hero and make a real difference is buy tickets tickets. You can get tickets, right now... today... at the Peter Norton SYMPHONY SPACE website.

We also have a very limited number of VIP tickets available. But, if you want to order those and be invited to the reception after the show, you have to contact the Voices Together Group at:

The VIP section will get all kinds of goodies, and the artists will all hang out at the reception after the gig.

Okay, gotta get back to work.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
