Hey... welcome to the website. I know there are a lot of people reading this in other parts of the country and different parts of the world. But, if you live here in New York City, I hope you guys are getting along okay with the transit strike and the 20 degree tempertatures.

(It's really, really tough to pick a side to root for, or against, in this one, isn't it?)

I just hope it just ends quickly.

I love this town. And, I'm healthy and can walk miles and miles to do the things I need to do. For example, among other things I have an audition waaaayyy downtown today. I'll take an hour or so and start walking. No big deal. Really rough, or impossible, getting around town for an awful lot of people, though. It's freeeezzzzzing out there.

But today, for some reason, all I can think about are the kids. How many holiday parties are gonna be missed and cancelled? How many school concerts and class plays? How many "very first" field trips to Radio City Music Hall? Today is Wednesday.... so, how many people are not gonna get to see that first Broadway show matinee or holiday concert at Lincoln Center? If this thing lasts through the weekend, how many people aren't gonna be able to make it up to the Bronx or out to Queens to their families for the holidays?

Friend of mine told me he was in gridlock for over 3 hours yesterday.

They couldn't have done this in January or February? (Or, even a few months ago when it was warmer?)

Penn Station sure looked eerie.

(sigh)

Oh well... life in the Big City.

So, what else is goin' on today?

Well, my friends and colleagues and I have started ramping up for the Voices Together Concert in January.

Now... about the VOICES TOGETHER Concert.

Y'know, Bob Dylan wrote, in the timeless song "Blowin' in the Wind"...

How may times can a man turn his head,
And, pretend that he just doesn't see?

Well, for some people, the number of times might just be countless. But, for some the answer is... no more.

So, a small group of my good friends and colleagues decided to get together... Voices Together... to try to make a difference in the lives of the people who are suffering terribly as the result of the war in Iraq, and are being largely ignored by our country and the world.

Yeah... there is a real war going on on the other side of the planet. And, the greatest number of deaths, injuries and heartaches are being inflicted on the civilian population.

They are the ordinary people, the civilian families, the men, women and especially the children of Iraq who are taking the brunt of the violence and destruction unleashed as the result of the war in their part of the world.

How may times can a man turn his head,
And, pretend that he just doesn't see?

Join us in getting direct help to the ordinary people of Iraq who are living through the daily fear and violence.

Okay?

Because...

How many times can we all turn our heads,
And, pretend that we just don't see?

Well, we can make a difference. YOU can help in a very real and direct way. There is a remarkable woman in Staten Island who has made 4 trips to Iraq already to get children who are in desperate need of help, and has brought them back to the States for the medical treatment they need. And, she's goin'again! She is Elissa Montanti and she calls herself the Global Medical Relief Fund.

So, we want to make her work easier.

Pleeeeez help us... to help her... help them.

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS BUY TICKETS TO A GREAT CONCERT!

It's gonna be a night of smiles, purpose, laughter, some tears.... but mostly an evening of music. All you hafta do to be a real hero and maake a real difference for the better is buy tickets tickets. You can get tickets, right now... today... at the Peter Norton SYMPHONY SPACE website.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
