Yeah, winding down another lap around the Sun. We called this last trip around the 2,005th... but, who's counting? I always imagine somewhere in some cloistered room somewhere around 2,000 years ago, one of the scribes turning to the other and saying, "Um... Minimus? Can I ask you... uh... when did we start numbering these things again? Was it last year or the year before? Do you remem... oh, hell. Let's just start over."

Truth is, no matter what importance we silly little beings put on time or calendars or anything else, in the deepest rainforests and at the bottom of the ocean... it's business as usual.

And, before you know it we'll be back in Central Park, at "The Hill"... sharing some music, a few laughs, and each other's company.

We've been singin' in Central Park for alot of years, now.

Hey! Thanks again to everyone who showed up at Merkin Concert Hall last week. Y'know, with over 400 of you in that room... the energy really lingers in my heart. It really does. I had a blast. The webmaster of this site, James Marino, has posted a handful of recordings he made through the mixing board that night. You can download 'em for yourselves and pass 'em around if you like. Y'know, speaking of Jim Caruso, I went down to the gig that he hosts at "Birdland" every Monday night. It's called Cast Party. I decided now that the year is just about over and the Merkin gig is over, I'm gonna start playing some songs again that I've held off playing for a while... songs of reason and social conscience.

Last night, pulled out "JesusLand". Nice to play that tune for an audience that "gets it". And, I had fun singin' it again.

But, I'm not doing it alone. Far, far from it. I will be sharing the stage with some amazing people. Really, wonderful artists. (And, the lineup isn't frozen, yet!)

Hey, I know... I understand. While we're all celebrating holidays here at home... it's so, so easy to forget that there is a very real war raging right on the other side of our planet. Did you know that this month, since December 1, another 55 American men and women have been killed in the fighting in Iraq? 2,168 since the US invasion.

But, are you truly aware that by far... by far the overwhelming number of deaths and injuries are being inflicted on ordinary people like you and me... even thousands of children? The civilian popualtion of that part of the world is taking the brunt of the violence.

Just this month, while 55 American families have lost someone forever, at least 429 more Iraqi people have died.... hundreds and hundreds more horribly injured.... hundreds of thousands since the fighting began. These are not gun shots woulds and broken bones these people are suffering. They are, for the most part, horrific bomb blasts.

My friends and I decided to put a concert on it's feet and the theme of it is...

Ordinary people... helping ordinary people.

No governments. No politics. No agenda... other than to make a differnce in the lives of some fellow human beings who really need help right now.... today.

Therefore, the VOICES TOGETHER CONCERT!

I'm telling you, it's gonna be a night that you will definitely wanna be a part of. And, here's the thing... I know a lot of Americans have had it up to here with celebrity benefits and huge charitable organizations! The Voices Together Group is made up of a small number of ordinary people... me, a few good friends, and a few wonderful caring artists who have agreed to share a stage with me for a night. And every nickel of the proceeds from this concert, all of it , is going to directly make a differnce in someone's life.

I'm working on a song right now as a matter of fact. And, the thrust of the thing is this.

My hope is that we're growing up,
The time has come for knowing
The answer is showing up
When winds of war are blowing
But "fire with fire"... just makes more fire
Push always comes to shove,
The antidote to hate and fear
Is Love

Listen... this is gonna be a night of smiles, purpose, laughter, some tears. But, mostly it's gonna be a night of really incredible music... and Love.
