Yeah, looks like that's about it for another "outdoor" season. But, man! What a great year! Thanks.

If you're new here at the website, take a look around, okay? It ain't much, but I call it home.

Seriously, I found myself in a room full of music people last night, looking at a beautiful smile, telling someone once again that I am the luckiest man alive. Y'know, from the first time the New York Times called me the "most famous person in New York that nobody knows", this ride has gotten stranger and more wonderful.

It's all very cool.

"The Hill" in Central Park"

But, again... just because the "outdoor" season is over, that doesn't mean goodbye. The "indoor" season is just beginning... with the "Year-End Holiday Concert" at Merkin Concert Hall on December 17th. This is just gonna be a great way to kick the year in the ass as it heads out the door. James Marino (websmaster of this site) made it reeeallly easy for you guys to get tickets for this show. You can either call the Box Office:

212-501-3330

Box Office Hours:
Sunday - Thursday: 12-7pm
Fridays: 12-3pm

OR... you can just click on that link over there on the right, and get your tickets online... right now.

Like I said, this year it's on a Saturday night, December 17th. Try to get your tickets sooner than later. It's always a blast. And, this year... I have a feeling we could all use a night to just kick back, forget about alot of the mess in the world today, sing together, have a few laughs, share a few stories and a whole bunch of music. If you've ever been to one of these things, you know what it feels like. The gig is only 5 weeks away and there's only 450 seats in Merkin. (We've sold it out several times in the past.) And, the tickets are back down to $20 for all seats. So, get your friends together soon to make sure you get the seats you want, okay? Like I said, it's only about 5 weeks away.

Merkin Hall in December

That night is not gonna be like some of the politically conscious gigs I've done in the past few years. This is gonna be a night to smile and feel... yeah. To smile and feel... and sing.

But, hey... some people have emailed me lately wondering why I'm so "harsh" on Geroge W. Bush.

Harsh?

Hmmmmmm...

Harsh.

Ha! Maybe it's because I feel he's like a rich, frat-boy, son-of-an-oil-man who stole his father's keys to Air Force One and crashed it into the globe! (Thanks Maureen.)

But, mostly it's because it's a fact that thousands and thousands of people are dying and suffering life altering injuries because of his pig-headed, wholly unAmerican words and actions. Thousands of American families have been grievously changed forever.

After September 11, going after Bin Laden's network (yeah, remember him?) would have been just and wise. Even deposing the Taliban who gave him safe haven in Afghanistan was understandable and logical. But, because he allowed the people around him to make this misguided, ideologically-driven, corporately-interested, historically-ignorant and duplicitous right turn into Iraq with so few troops, such little world support and such little forethought... tens of thousands of Iraqi citizens have lost their lives and hundrds of thousands of Iraqi lives have been destroyed forever.

We are breeding terrorists and have created an incubator for groups like Al Qaeda and a caldron of anti-Americanism.

More and more everyday.... while you are reading this.

And, I guess it's because it's not my right to question the people in government who work for We the People... it's my right and my duty to question their actions. And y'know, since I'm a singer/songwriter in the tradition of Dylan, Lennon, Crosby, Baez, Young, Mitchell, Guthrie and so many more, it's my place... and, it's kind of in the job description to put it in a song.

That's all.

So, harsh?

Yeah... a little.

But, it doesn't commandeer my Life or my work. I've been writing lotsa new stuff and only a few songs are about this war or that disgraceful man.

Oh... listen. I had a great, great time last night singing "Where'dat Money Go?" for a whole new audience last night. But, soooo many people keep requesting both "JesusLand" and the new song "A different Cowboy's Lament". It's amazing.

It's so weird. I write all kinds of music. But, I am not a "country" artist by any definition. Still, these two songs are out there and going crazy. So, here... if you want 'em, download 'em both for FREE.

For "JesusLand" click on this link...

In America... satire is Protected Speech (Even from those who don't get it!)

And, for "A different Cowboy's Lament" just click on the photo of me singin' it at BIRDLAND.

Okay, I gotta run right now. Got a really busy day. Maybe I'll stop back and update this page a little later.

Also... I'll be sending an email out later to all of you who just signed up on the mailing list. Thanks for hangn' out.

See you all soon.

And, if you see me on the streets of Manhattan today, say "Hey".

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
