Well, I think... y'know... what the hell!

It's lookin' like it's gonna scrape the 60 degree mark today. So, I think I'm gonna head to "The Hill" in Central Park and try to share a few hours of music with you guys.

Ha! And, it's the middle of November!

But, let's see what happens today. Bring a sweatsirt and a blanket. 'Cause once the Sun slips behind the Dakota, it gets a bit colder a bit faster.

Summer on "The Hill"

And, y'know what? Tomorrow isn't supposed to be as sunny. But, it might be a little warmer. So, maybe we'll squeeze 2 days out of this weekend.

Oh hey! Quickly... there's nothing wrong with your computer... if you are trying to log onto the "Forum" (message board).

No big deal, but my television viewing enjoyment of watching the "Wizard of Oz" last night was interrupted by a phone conversation I guess I had to have with the webmaster of this site. (James Marino is the guy who designed, built and maintains this site. As busy as he is, he's always right on top of this thing. And, he's a good, good friend.) And, after dealing with one particular pin-head in there, I decided to ask him to just pull it down. It's like the old days in grammar school... where one stupid kid couldn't obey the rules, so they "ruined it for everybody". Besides... neither James or I need the headache of dealing with a few morons who don't have the smarts or wherewithall to build their own websites. I am certainly not in the business of giving assholes a place to be heard. (That place would be the mens room at Penn Station!)

Oh, by the way... the guy who ruined it for everyone? A guy who is a big Bush supporter who has been using several screen names... but, I'm told the latest is "anneelizabeth". (Ha! I hope musician message boards are the only forums he uses female aliases for!) I would give you all his email address, but that would be mean and wrong... that would be something people like him would do. (Be kinda funny, though.)

Maybe we'll do a different format of a "Forum" again someday. We'll see. In the meantime, if you need to get in touch with the webmaster or me, just hit the "Contact" button over there.

Cool?

Anyway, moving on.

If I see you in Central Park today, maybe I'll run the new "Cowboy..." song by you. I tweaked the lyrics to make it a little more general. And yeah, I'm still giving songs away FOR FREE. If you wanna download the "Birdland" version of this tune for free, just click on this link...

"A different COWBOY'S LAMENT" (I think that's what I'll call it.)

What else? Well, I had dinner last night with a good, good friend who is helping to put the VOICES TOGETHER CONCERT on it's feet. (More about that concert in a minute.)

We were talking about the "Year-End Holiday Concert" at Merkin Concert Hall, and I think I'm going to hafta included a tribute to the holiday of FESTIVUS! (The holiday invented by George Costanza's father, Frank, on Seinfeld.) Mostly, this annual concert is a great way for all of us to get together and see the year out the door with a bunch of singing and laughing.... a little storytelling this year. It's gonna be great.

If you haven't gotten your tickets yet, the box office is closed on Saturday, but they are open on Sunday and every other day this week.

Just call the Merkin Box Office.

212-501-3330

Box Office Hours:
Sunday - Thursday: 12-7pm
Fridays: 12-3pm

If you ever have been to one of these, you know what a blast we have. That concert hall fills up with that "It's Just Us" feeling. So, start getting your friends together now. Seriously... try to get tickets this week. The gig is only 5 weeks away and there's only 450 seats in Merkin. (We've sold it out several times in the past.) And, the tickets are back down to $20 for all seats. So, the box office to make sure you get the seats you want, okay? Like I said, it's only about 5 weeks away.

Merkin Hall in December

Look, I know there are people reading this in different parts of the country and different parts of the world. But, if you live anywhere near New York City, you oughta try to come into town for this one.

Okay, now... if you've got another minute, would you please click on this logo:

Go to the VOICES website to find out how you can buy tickets to another gig... a wonderful and worthwhile event in January. The VOICES TOGETHER concert is about ordinary peple like you and me making a difference rather than talking about changing the world. The theme of this effort is...

Ordinary people... helping ordinary people.

This concert is about helping the innocent civilians caught in the nightmare that is the war in Iraq.

The concert is gonna be at Symphony Space here in New York City on January 28th.... what we're doing and why we're doing it. (Click on that logo up there to visit the Voices Website, okay?)

We... my friends and I... a bunch of ordinary people, refuse to ignore the carnage that is ravaging the Iraqi people... today... now... since the U.S. invasion.

Here's the lineup of artists who are gonna join me on stage so far.

Christine Lavin
Roger Bartlett (My pal, "Dodger")
Sam Leopold
George Wurzbach

The list is growing. And, we're hoping for some really amazing surprise guests. You can get tickets for this event right now, today, by going to the Peter Norton SYMPHONY SPACE website.

BUT! We also have a very limited number of VIP tickets available. But, if you want to order those and be invited to the reception after the show, you have to contact the Voices Together Group at:

Get VIP Tickets

The VIP section will get all kinds of goodies, and the artists will all hang out at the reception after the gig.

If you wanna help in another really extraordinary way, you can make a donation, right online, and become one of the "producers" of this concert. Really! You will be a concert producer! It's gonna be a special event that you are really gonna feel great being a part of.

Okay... I'm outta here. Maybe I'll see you in the park this weekend!

Thanks for everything.

All outdoor events are weather permitting! Stop by the website before you go if it is questionable.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
