HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

(Might be my favorite holiday. I love the idea of it, and I dig that it belongs to everyone who wants it.)

Gotta say... "The March of the Wooden Soldiers"... "A Charlie Brown Christmas"
... and "The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade" all in one weekend.

.

Yeah... the season officially starts this weekend.

Time for some tradition, hah? Like... um... our annual "Year-End Concert" at Merkin Concert Hall on December 17th! (More about that later.)

First... listen. I'm gonna be back in town on Friday or Saturday. So, I'll update this page again soon. But in the meantime, if you're new here or you have nothin' to do, why don't you browse through the "Archives" and grab some of the FREE stuff from recent weeks. There are a bunch of original cartoons and Photoshop things... a couple of FREE songs to download. All kindsa stuff. And, if you wanna email me about anything at all, just hit that "Contact" button over there.
(I never have time to answer all the email I get. But, I promise I read ever single one.)

Y'know... damn! I love this town. And, I love making music.

Oh, y'know I wrote some of this yesterday, but it bears repeating at this time of year.

I always say I'm such a lucky man. Well, along with that goes the fact that I'm such a grateful man... 365 days a year. Grateful for it all. The music, the joy, the fun, the laughter, the pain, the heartache, the challenges, the little victories, the smiles, the lessons... the Love... this Life.

So, thanks.

First of all... as always, I hafta thank the Creative Spirit in all of us. Believe me or not, I don't care. It's present, it's very real... and, It's what makes human beings capable of such incredible beauty and acts of kindness. And, every once in a while when I'm in touch with It, It offers me a song. Then, I get to share the song with all of you. That Spirit is also the force behind "The Hill" in Central Park, and the author of... "It's Just Us".

I also need to say "Thanks" to New York City and to all the "People on the Hill". (You know who you are!) And, to the amazing people in my Life... you also know who you are! (And, why I love you.)

Y'know, when we see bad things happen, or acts of selfishness and duplicity... I often hear people say, "Well, you can't change human nature."

To me... that's a damned good thing. If you ask me, human nature is just fine. It offers us all the choice between selfishness and kindness in every moment. A choice between Love and fear in every moment. Human nature has created such works of wonder and beauty... it is what makes harmony the norm.

It seems to me that harmony really is the natural order of things. That's why the "news" is filled with such bad news every day. The bad news is the aberration. THAT'S why it's news! There are millions of people walking the streets of every city in this country. When someone gets hit on the head, it's news. Thousands and thousands of planes in the air at one time. When one of them crashes, it's news.

Harmony and order... are the norm, the natural order of Life.

Focussing on the shit is the only crime. And, to those unfortunate people I've encountered who live in fear and ignorance and say things like, "In this life, you have to fight fire with fire" I say... um... uh... that just makes more fire.

For that simple Truth... I'm very thankful.

Oh sure, someday we'll evolve as a species and finally "get it". Damn! I don't get it all the time. One ride on the subway can set me back a million years. Still... I'm grateful for the Truth. Just, y'know... doin' the best we can.

Hey listen, wherever you're going this weekend, or if you're just staying put and laying low, or if you're around family and friends, or gonna spend a quiet time alone... I hope you love the company.

Ah-ha! Okay!

Commercial time!!!

After the turkey, after the pun'kin pie, if you're sittin' around with some time onyour hands this weekend, call your friends and make plans right now, then call the box office on Friday to get your tickets for the annual gig at Merkin Concert Hall. The "Year-end Holiday Concert" is on a Saturday Night this year! And, we lowered the price to give everybody a break. (ALL seats are only $20 this year.) And, there isn't a bad seat in the house, 'cause there are only 450 seats in the whole theater!

Merkin Hall in December

And, honestly, there are actually people who request the balcony every year. Maybe it's because it's so close to the stage. Or, maybe there's a certian type of party person who just likes the balcony and the bleachers at Yankee Stadium. Who knows? It's just a good time every year. This year, be ready to sing.

If you've ever been to one of these things, you know what kind of a fun way it is to end the year with all the same faces you see on "The Hill" in Central Park. And, if you've got nothin' else goin' on, it's also really cool to come to one of these by yourself. Lotsa people do.

It's just us.

And since it's on a Saturday night, maybe I'll join a bunch of you someplace nearby afterwards.

Anyway, hope to see you there. You can call the box office today...

(212) 501-3330
Box Office Hours:
Sunday - Thursday: 12-7pm
Fridays: 12-3pm

Or, get tickets "online" by clicking on that thing over there on the right!

Okay, gotta go. but like I said, I'll be back soon. And, this coming Monday, I think I'm gonna be back sittin' in at The Red Lion for the SGA Songwrier's Circle. Check back and I'll let you know for sure.

See you soon. And, as always...

...thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
