Okay... we're in Riverside Park today.

Got an email from the park administrator, KC Sahl, clearing us for an afternoon of music in Riverside Park. Y'see, over in Central Park they're setting up for running of the NYC Marathon tomorrow. So, this weekend has always beeen one that I traditionally don't play at "The Hill".

"The Hill"

But, even though it's late in the season to be playing in Riverside, KC has given the greenlight for a concert at "The Storyteller's Hill". The crowd is never as huge there, so it's kinda more intimate. I like it for a change. We get to fool around with songs a little more, and I get to tell you guys how and wwhy some of the tunes were written. So, today...

...maybe I'll see you at "The Storyteller's Hill".

Oh, by the way... Just walk into the park at 79th Street like you were going to the Boat Basin Cafe. Then go all the way down to the river. Then... just walk uptown along the water a little bit. Here's a map... print it out if you hafta.

So, what else is going on today?

Well, if you're new here and you have a few minutes... go back through the "Archives" and catch up on some fun stuff. There's a free download of the song "JesusLand", there are some Homeland Security Charts... a whole bunch of interesting stuff.

And, I was thinkin'. Y'know, I had noticed that the "Forum" (message board) has been a little bit dead since the new format arrived. But, it's there for you guys to have fun with. (I'm not participating in there, but I do poke my head in once or twice a week to see what's goin' on. You guys oughta start hookin' up, sharing your love of music, and ideas and jokes and stuff. But, I also thought to jump start it a little, if you have a good title or caption for this cartoon I did last week...

Click on picture for full-size image.

...why don't you post it in there. The best one will win a pair of free tickets to the gig at Merkin Concert Hall. (I won't be the judge, though!) I mean, since "SCOOTER" was indicted for lying repeatedly to a federal prosecutor about things that involve national security we might as well point out that he is vicePRESIDENT Dick Cheney's right-hand. So, have fun. Then, maybe I'll do more cartooning in the coming weeks. But, let's just see how this goes. Post your idea in the "Forum" and indicate if it's a title or a caption.

You'll find the contest in the "Politics" section.

Okay, now listen... the "indoor" season is just starting. Like, on December 17th. (It's a Saturday night.) We'll be back in Merkin Concert Hall for the annual "Year-End Holiday Concert".

Merkin Hall in December

If you've ever been to one of these, you know what a blast we have. So, start getting your friends together now. Seriously... try to get tickets this week. The gig is only 6 weeks away and there's only 450 seats in Merkin. (We've sold it out several times in the past.) And, the tickets are back down to $20 for all seats. So, the box office to make sure you get the seats you want, okay? Like I said, it's only about 6 weeks away.

Box office: 212-501-3330

Box Office Hours:
Sunday - Thursday: 12-7pm
Fridays: 12-3pm

One last, and very important thing. The tickets are also on sale for the VOICES TOGETHER concert in January.

As I do every day now, I wanna tell all the newcomers at my website to go and check out the VOICES site to find out about the concert that we're doing' at Symphony Space here in New York City on January 28th.... what we're doing and why we're doing it. (Click on that logo right there to visit the Voices Website, okay?)

We... my friends and I... a bunch of ordinary people, refuse to ignore the carnage that is ravaging the Iraqi people... today... now... since the U.S. invasion. The ordinary people.. the civilians, especially the children.

So, go to that website and see what it's all about, okay?

Maybe I'll see you in Riverside Park today. If not... thanks for an amazing summer.

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
