Hey all... welcome to the website.

There are more and more people hitting this site from all across the country and in different parts of the world. But, today people from all over the world come to New York City for Marathon Sunday! So, let me start off today by saying "Good Luck" to everyone who's running today.... crazy bastards!

This weekend I traditionally stay out of the Parks Department's way in Central Park. That's why I wasn't at "The Hill" yesterday.

"The Hill" in Central Park"

Yesterday I got a call from my good buddy, Sid Bernstein, who left a message saying that he was sitting at "The Hill" with a bunch of people waiting for me and my guitar. Man! I felt terrible! But, I've been telling people all week here at the website that, becasue of the marathon preparations, I was gonna be over at "The Storyteller's Hill" in Riverside Park. The crowd over there is so much smaller, but it feels a whole lot more intimate. And, I get to share some thoughts, and stories about the songs a little more. So, we had a really sweet afternoon.... and, the sunset was spectacular! (I mean, really spectacular!)

Anyway, keep your fingers crossed for next weekend.

Man! I love making music. I love my life! I am the luckiest man on the face of the earth. And, when I look around at my friends and family... when I look around at the people I like to hang with...

.. I love the company.

So, what's goin' on today?

Well, I got an invitation from Christine Lavin to sit in on a "hoot" downtown later tonight. That's where a whole bunch of musician's who tour the country kinda gather in one place to pass around some music.... no audience... just artists kickin' it around. I think they must call it a "hoot" in the folk world. I think it sounds a whole lot like what I call a jam.

Either way, I'm lookin' forward to it and I'll tell you guys about it tomorrow.

By the way, Christine has just released a new album that you guys would love. It's called "Folk Zinger". Well, the vast majority off you guys wwould love it. There are beautiful stories of Love, and family, and hope... and some funny, funny stuff... and, she's got a song about Truth on there called "The Peter Principle at Work" that you guys are gonna dig. Also... she's got a version of the Beatles tune "All My Lovin'" that is amazing. She's wonderful.

So, listen... that's about it for today. Just wanna post the latest Homeland Security Chart to keep you all aware. This one is actually a barometer for the panic inside the White House as more and more people in this country wake up from their patriotic slumber. Right around 65% of you are rubbing your eyes, and to me, at least that's hopeful.

Many people are content to slumber on. But, the loud noise I sometimes hear them making... sounds like snoring. (I think there's a song in there.)

Hey, the "indoor" season is just starting. Like, on December 17th. (It's a Saturday night.) We'll be back in Merkin Concert Hall for the annual "Year-End Holiday Concert".

Merkin Hall in December

If you've ever been to one of these, you know what a blast we have. So, start getting your friends together now. Seriously... try to get tickets this week. The gig is only 6 weeks away and there's only 450 seats in Merkin. (We've sold it out several times in the past.) And, the tickets are back down to $20 for all seats. So, the box office to make sure you get the seats you want, okay? Like I said, it's only about 6 weeks away.

Box office: 212-501-3330

Box Office Hours:
Sunday - Thursday: 12-7pm
Fridays: 12-3pm

...to find out about the and how you can help, besides buying tickets to a wonderful and worthwhile event.

Okay, keep your fingers crossed for next weekend. If this was the last weekend for outdoor music, I hafta say one more time...

...thanks for another miracle of a summer.

See you soon.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
