Y'know?

This time of year, when people ask me how long I'm gonna keep playing my music in Central Park, I always tell them, "Don't look at the calendar, look at the thermometer. If it's above 60 degrees I'll be out there."

Well, this weekend it's gonna be close. I think Saturday is gonna be right around 60. But, I plan to be out there. Bring a sweater or a sweatshirt and a blanket for late in the afternoon, for after the Sun slips behind the shadow of the Dakota.

Let's get a few more weekends in.

"The Hill" in Central Park

Damn! I love doin' what I do. Like I always say... it's easy to know you're doing what you're meant to be doing with any day of a life.

It feels Good.

Hey... working on a few new songs. Maybe I'll run them by you guys this Saturday. (This is soooo cool, isn't it. Y'know, every weekend we do something in this town that nobody knows about... except the few hundred thousand people that know about it.) We'll do it again this weekend.

Oh, and if you missed yesterday's update about "Cast Party" at Birdland, just hit the "Archives" button. I did "JesusLand" for that audience, and I'm pretty sure they "got it".

By the way, I'm still giving that song away to the world for FREE. If you want a copy of "JesusLand" just click on the link that says...

...that's it, David! You're goin' to hell! (JesusLand)

Pass it around to your friends. Email the link to everyone you know. It's Free.

Now! Hey Yankees! Last night!

Off to a good start! They won the first game of their playoff series against the Angels, 4-2. And, the Red Sox lost their first game to the White Sox, 14-2. (Lotta laundry in that series... all those sox!) Y'know, in my life... sports is in the "Toy Department". There are so many other things that are truly important. But, today... well, all seems right with the world in the "Toy Department".

Today... I'm heading over to Symphony Space to secure that venue for the VOICES TOGETHER Concert in January!

It will be held on January 28th at Symphony Space, on Broadway!

Now that the venue has been chosen... we are going to start announcing the artists and the special guests as they line up for this very special and worthwhile event. We'll also announce very soon when the tickets are gonna go on sale. You are NOT gonna wanna miss this event. It will be on Saturday, January 28th. Just a few months away, really.

So, keep checking back.

I've been talking to a real talent and a great gal... singer/songwriter Christine Lavin. I really hope she is able to join us in this effort. She's a lot of fun... and a phenomenal songwriter. I'll let you know soon, okay?

And, if you wanna be a real part of this gig... if you wanna help us out with the production of this concert and be listed as a producer, you can still do it. All you hafta do is click on this logo...

...go to the "Donate" page and help us out.

Also, at the VOICES TOGETHER website, you can learn all about the gig, and the people we are trying to help.

Go there now and check it out okay?

Or, just click on the "Archives" button over there and check out a few of the recent updates.

Y'see, there is a war raging in that part of the world. And, the people who are taking the brunt of it... the people who are being hurt the most by it, are the ordinary civilians.... people just like you and me.

And, they are being ignored. When was the last time you saw a story on the news of the suffering being caused by this WAR. When was the last time... or maybe, um... have you ever heard George W. Bush or Dick Cheney mention the civilian casualties? If you did, was there any measure of genuine concern or responsibility.

Y'know, our effort to get help to these people... especially the children, is NOT political. It is about getting help to people who need it desperately.... because it's the right thing to do. Because somebody's got to!

Y'know, the tragic death toll of Hurricane Katrina was recorded at 972 people killed.

Do you have any idea how may Iraqi civilians were killed in the month of August alone?

.

.

Civilians... women and children... uncles and brothers... mothers and fathers... children?

.

August, alone?

.

1,524 innocent people dead.

.

In ONE month!

.

Add 282 Iraqi police men and security forces.

.

That's 1,806 Iraqi people killed... just in August alone! Good people can't ignore it. As Bob Dylan wrote in "Blowin' in the wind"...

How many times can a man turn his head
And, pretend that he just doesn't see.

(Although, personally... I feel that if you can possibly say, with a straight face and a clear conscience that you think this war is going well, or according to (ahem) some kind of plan... then you're... um... okay... yeah, by this point... I can say it. You're an idiot... or worse.)

But, that's just me.

Either way, we're looking to all people with a heart that's actually beating to help us out with the Voices Together concert.

And, good people... show up in Central Park and let me now how you feel as well.

Hey, thanks for stopping by the website today. And, if you see me on the streets of Manhattan today, say "Hey"!

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
