Well, Kids... looks like a rainout today, hah?

Still, there's something about a rainy day in New York City. There's an allure about it... a sexiness about it... a romance about it. Sometimes I like to get out on the street with a camera when I get an unexpected rainout like this one. Here's a shot I took over on Madison Avenue a while back.

Okay, okay.

(I just love old photographs of New York City... even in the rain.)

But, it means me and my guitar are not gonna be able to get out to the park and hang with you guys today.

Anyway, maybe... maybe tomorrow this front will move through and we'll get an afternoon concert in. We'll see. Man! I love sharing my music with you guys in Central Park. I'm the luckiest man alive. At this time of year, my emotions are always a little mixed. I'm soooo greateful and content with another amazing season of music. But, it's also a little melancholy when I realize that another season is coming to an end. At the same time, I'm the kinda man who is always excited by the next thing. I guess I'm kind of a "possibility junkie".

Y'know... I think we'll get a other few days in the park.

HEY... last night... YANKEES.

What a see-saw battle with the Los Angeles Angels! Great game in the rain. But, starter Randy Johnson just didn't have it. And, when the Yankees looked like they were gonna come back big... they seemed to run outta gas. (If I'm Joe Torre, I think about putting Aaron Small back in a starting spot.)

Okay, they'll get 'em today... and tomorrow.

.

Before we move on... here it is again. And, it's yours For Free.

Listen, I recently did one of my newer songs for a whole new audience here in New York City. I figured, I don't know, by way of introducing my work to a new audience, I might as well hit 'em with "JesusLand" right off the bat. (Just to take the temperature and see how much fun I could have with them.) Fellow songwriter Christine Lavin, (A wonderful singer/songwriter and new friend.) heard the tune and started passing it around the country. Well, alot of you know that I wrote that song to specifically give a way for free... for all of you to pass around.

So, here it is again. Click on the link below and the song is yours for free. Send the link to as many friends as you want. (Send it to people you don;t like, too.) In fact... why don't you all send it to Bill O'Reilly!

Here's the link:

"That's it, David! You're goin' to hell!"

Okay, now...

...to the important stuff.

I'm gonna spend today working on contacting some artists I wanna line up for the VOICES TOGETHER Concert in January. By the way... tickets are officially on sale. You can order yours now to make sure you don't get sold out of this one-time event by clicking on this link:

Peter Norton SYMPHONY SPACE website

We also have a very limited number of VIP tickets available. But, if you want to order those and be invited to the reception after the show, you have to contact the Voices Together Group at:

Get VIP Tickets

The VIP section will get all kinds of goodies, and the artists will all hang out at the reception after the gig.

Why are we doing this concert?

Because this little girl lost her leg in the war in Iraq.

'nough said.

But, also because there are thousands and thousand of children just like her and many, many more who have been hurt even worse. Because 1,524 Iraqi civilians were killed in the month of August alone, and many, many more thousands and thousands have been horribly wounded in the past 3 years... and ignored.

Ignored by our government. Ignored by much of the American news media. And, largely ignored by the good people of this country. The innocent civilians, ordinary people like you and me, are taking the brunt of this nightmarish war. And, they need help... period.

I'm a writer of songs. I'm a musician. My friends are good people... ordinary people. What can we do?

What can we do?

The VOICES TOGETHER CONCERT!

You can help, too.

We need you.

We're still looking for support as far as the production costs of the concert. You can be a real part of this amazing and worthwhile event. All you have to do is reach into your heart, and then into your pocket and send us a few bucks, or whatever you can afford. (We're still looking for that angel or two who can afford to help us with a few thousand dollars or more, but every donation means soooo much.

Seriously.

And, if you help us with the production, you will be listed as a "producer" of the show on both the website and in the program that evening.

Hope you all join us in this effort in whatever way you can.

Well, maybe I'll see you guys tomorrow with my guitar in the park... but, maybe not.

If you see me on the streets on Manahattan in the rain... say "Hey".

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
