Man! What a picture perfect day here in New York City!

Hey, I know there are people reading this all over the place. But, if you are anywhere in or around New York City, why not head over to Central Park today and hang with me for a while. I crank up the music around 12:30 and play until around 6:00... like I always do.

This time of year, okay... throw a denim jacket or a sweat shirt in your bag for later on in the day when the Sun slips behind the cliffs of Central Park West, and suddenly we're in the cool shadow of the Dakota. But, the warmth of both the Sun and the people of this great town is what I'm looking forward to most.

Doh! Before anything else...

AHHHHH!

Last night... YANKEES - RED SOX! The Yankees lost a sloppy one. So, now they are tied with Boston with two games left. Man! It's just poetic and right that these two teams should come down to the last two games of the season.

Oh, listen... speaking of "poetic", this was kinda cool.

Y'know, I get dozens of emails a day through this website... the vast majority of them are soooo cool from really great people. Most of you guys share the nicest thoughts and words. (The occasional hate-mail is actually kind of fascinating, too.) But, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, after George W. Bush finally decided to end one of his long vacations, and while his good buddy "Brownie" was still pretending to be... um... something... someone emailed me this screen-capture from Irish television news. I laughed, 'cause I thought there was a certain "poetic truth" frozen in this particular moment on TV screens in that part of the world.

Yeah, this man is just one tiny reason people are dying and being horribly wounded every day in Iraq... Americans and Iraqi. (In my opinion, it's really the fault of the people behind him.)

Regardless.

Whether you feel this war is a bad thing or... uy... a good thing, it's an undeniable fact that people who are paying the dearest price are the innocent civilians, the ordinary people in that part of the world.

THAT'S the reason for the VOICES TOGETHER Concert.

I hope, whoever you are, that you are willing to support this effort.

What is it?

Uh... Mr. Cheney? Who gets this reconstruction contract?

The answer?

We do.

Ordinary people like you and me. Y'see, caught on the front of the violence in Iraq have been thousands and thousands of innocent people. Ordinary men and women just like you and me. And, thousands of children have been left horribly hurt and orphaned. (Some people don't want to hear that or acknowledge this horror. I know! I've got the emails to prove it!) But, it's undeniable that many, many more fold civilians have been killed and hurt in this war than military. A small group of friends and colleagues got together to form the VOICES TOGETHER GROUP. It is our intention to raise as much money as we possibly can to support two groups of good, good people who are on the ground in Iraq making a real difference in the lives of those whose lives are being torn apart by this war. Bringing them medical help where there is none, offering them a chance to put their lives back together. One woman that we want to support with this concert, Elissa Montanti from Staten Island New York, has made 4 trips to Iraq to bring children hurt in the daily bombings back to a hospital in the States for the medical help they need so desperately. She's an angel. (This summer, she actually brought two children she helped from the other side of the planet to "The Hill" in Central Park for an afternoon of music.)

So, we are putting up the VOICES TOGETHER Concert in January, here in New York City. The whole idea of this gig is this...

ORDINARY PEOPLE (like us)... HELPING ORDINARY PEOPLE (like them).

BIG NEWS!

I will announce, TODAY IN CENTRAL PARK, that we have chosen the venue and date for this event.

So... here's your chance to do something really worthwhile today.

Click on this logo, and go to the VOICES TOGETHER website.

...and help us out. Okay?

Make a donation, right online, and become one of the "producers" of this concert. Really! You will be a concert producer! It's gonna be a special event that you are really gonna feel great being a part of.

Of course, we're looking for those huge angels who can afford to send a $5,000 tax deductible donation.... or $1000... or $100... but, ANY amount will help.

$50... $25... whatever you can really afford to give.

And you will ALL be listed on that website as "Producers" of the show... and, in the program that night!

It's important. It's the GOOD thing to do.

Okay, so head to the park today for the announcement of the venue and date. I'll also let you guys know all about it tomorrow here at the website. and, we'll tell you soon when the tickets are gonna go on sale.

You are NOT gonna wanna be sold out of this one!

Hope I see you in Central Park.

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
