Okay, well... I didn't get a chance to get out to Central Park any day of this three-day weekend. That's the way it goes this time of year. But, I have a feeling we'll get a few more nice weekends before it's all over. (Of course, I'll probably be wearing shoes and a shirt.)

But, y'never know when it's over.
So, let me take this opportunity, again, to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for another amazing season of music in Central Park. I'm a very lucky man.
Thanks.
Listen, just because the season is winding down, that doesn't mean the music stops or we stop doing really cool things. It's not too soon to begin thinking about making plans with your friends to get tickets for the annual "Year-end Holiday Concert" at Merkin Concert Hall on Saturday Night, December 17th.
And, please... start getting your friends together to make an evening of the VOICES TOGETHER Concert on January 28th. More about that later.
First...
Last night... YANKEES!!!

Woo-hoo!
Tough, tough, gutsy come-from-behind win against Los Angeles. Headin' out to the west coast for the deciding game tonight.
But, y'know... last night there was the possibility that we were watching the last home game for a classy, classy professional who's played for the Yankees for the past 15 years.
Bernie Williams.
And, last night I was reminded again why I love the New York fans. Just as they did for Paul O'Neill a few years ago, the crowd of over 55,000 in recognition of all the years and exciting moments that Bernie has given them, relentlessly chanted his name after his last at-bat until he came out of the dugout for a curtain call.
Very cool.

Thanks, Bernie. (Now, keep winning and play a few more games at the Stadium.)
Now... about the VOICES TOGETHER Concert.
Y'know, Bob Dylan wrote, in the timeless song "Blowin' in the Wind"...
How may times can a man turn his head,
And, pretend that he just doesn't see?
Well, for some people, the number of times might just be countless. But, for anyone with a conscience, the answer is... no more.
So, a small group of my good friends and colleagues decided to get together... Voices Together... to try to make a difference in the lives of the people who are suffering terribly as the result of the war in Iraq, and are being largely ignored by our country and the world.
They are the ordinary people, the civilian families, the men, women and especially the children of Iraq who are taking the brunt of the violence and destruction unleashed as the result of the war in their part of the world.
How may times can a man turn his head,
And, pretend that he just doesn't see?

Join us in getting direct help to the ordinary people of Iraq who are living through the daily fear and violence.

Okay?
Because...
How many times can we all turn our heads,
And, pretend that we just don't see?
Well, we can make a difference. YOU can help in a very real and direct way. There is a remarkable woman in Staten Island who has made 4 trips to Iraq already to get children who are in desperate need of help, and has brought them back to the States for the medical treatment they need. And, she's goin'again! She is Elissa Montanti and she calls herself the Global Medical Relief Fund.
So, we want to make her work easier.
Pleeeeez help us... to help her... help them.

If you can, donate what you can afford to the Fractured Atlas Account at the VOICES website. (Actually, we're still looking for a few special angels who can afford a LARGE tax-deductible donation, but any amount will do. ALL donations are tax-deductible.)
But... if that's not your bag, you can also make a donation by simply buying tickets. You can get tickets, right now... today... on a holiday monday... at the Peter Norton SYMPHONY SPACE website.
We also have a very limited number of VIP tickets available. But, if you want to order those and be invited to the reception after the show, you have to contact the Voices Together Group at:
Get VIP Tickets
The VIP section will get all kinds of goodies, and the artists will all hang out at the reception after the gig.
Calling all good people of reason with beating hearts!
Because...
How may times can a man turn his head,
And, pretend that he just doesn't see?
Well for some people the answer is, "They will never see."

(Can't believe he actually said these words the other day.)
(sigh)
We... we will help the injured civilians in Iraq. Join us.
Hey! I hope I see you in the "Forum" (message board). Hope I see you at the Voices Together Website. Hope I see you next weekend in Central Park.
Oh yeah, and if ou want a free mp3 of my song "JesusLand", just click in this link.
"That's it, David! You're goin' to hell!"
I recently did this tune for a whole new audience here in New York City. I figured, I don't know, by way of introducing my work to a new audience, I might as well hit 'em with something "pointed" right off the bat. (Just to take the temperature and see how much fun I could have with them.) Fellow songwriter Christine Lavin, (A wonderful singer/songwriter and new friend.) heard the tune and started passing it around the country. Well, alot of you know that I wrote that song to specifically give a way for free... for all of you to pass around. So... go ahead.
See you soon
Thanks for everything.
