Hey, welcome to the website today.
Man! If you're reading this in another part of the country or another part of the world, I can tell you this... it is never gonna stop rainging in New York City! (Nah! That's just what it feels like today.)
As my good friend and colleague, Roger Bartlett, would say, "Man! This mornin' it was rainin' like a tall cow pissin' on a flat rock!"
So... alot of "inside" work again today. (Both kinds)
But, right off the bat... gotta say!
I was laughing my ass off yesterday, when the federal authorities were announcing that the subway threat this past weekend was a complete hoax. Of course, almost immediately for me all the signs pointed to another page from the Rove/Bush playbook of scaring people in the run-up to an election. With that kind of thing, politicians demonstrate again and again that they have no shame or integrity. But, Y'know what cracked me up the most?
Ha! It also shows they have no common sense, nor do they give us any credit for having any brains at all. Reason... just such a very little thought would make anyone question that kind of threat. Because, I mean...
What self-respecting terrorist would plan a subway attack... and, make the target date the Sunday in the middle of a three-day holiday weekend, when so few people are riding the trains!
C'mon! I've said it before, I'll say it again. Who's kidding who!?
And, y'know... that kind of underestimation of the thought processes of those who would harm this town is ignorant... bordering on racist, if you ask me.
Anyway... hey... maybe I'll get out to Central Park on Sunday this weekend. I have a feeling this traffic jam of a weather system will finally be moving by then. I could really use a day of standing in the sun with my guitar and all of you.

Y'know, I'm such a lucky man. And, it will stop raining. (It always has, anyway.) And, I will get to hang with all of you again. But, it's raining today. Got a few minutes to read this page and pop around and check out a few links? Sure you do.
So... really good news.
Y'know, I've been keeping you all up-to-date, step by step for the past few months about the VOICES TOGETHER Concert we're putting up on January 28th at Symphony Space here in New York City.
Well, folk singer/songwriter, Christine Lavin has confirmed that she will be a part of that special evening.
So far... I will be joined by Christine, Sam Leopold, we're definitely flying Roger Bartlett back to New York for this one... and, hopefully the lineup will keep getting more and more wonderful and fun. Keep checking back, okay?
Also, if you wanna either help us out by donating to the production of this thing, or if you wanna get tickets, or just find out more about VOICES TOGETHER, then just click on this logo...

In a nutshell, here's why we're all working so hard on this concert.
Because we all know 7-year old kids.
This particular 7-year old boy named Ahmed Sharif was caught in a horrible firefight between American soldiers and the insurgent fighters in Iraq where he lives. Can you imagine the fear? The horror for a 7 year-old child... for any of us. Well, a bomb blast... tore off his right arm, and blinded both of his eyes.

A woman named Elissa Montanti became aware of him and, because this is what she has committed herself to do with her life, made the journey to Iraq and got Ahmed, brought him here to the United States to stay with her in Staten Isalnd while getting him the medical help he needed so desperately at the Shriner's Children's Hospital.

The real nightmare is... THERE ARE THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF KIDS AND CIVILIANS JUST LIKE AHMED. Elissa's been doing this for the innocent civilian people hurt in this war as much as she possibly can. But, it's hard. she's an angel, but she's only one woman. Our government is largely ignoring these innocent casualties of their war. The news media and most of the American people, it seems, hardly glance at the statistical nightmare of this war. And, in reality there is no Iraqi "government" that can administer to the dire needs of the people living there amid the fear and the daily violence. (Besides, doctors and surgeons have fled Iraq in massive numbers.)
So... what can a singer/songwriter do? What can ordinary "People on the Hill" in Central Park do? What can ordinary people everywhere do?
What can we do together?
We can help an otherwise ordinary person from Staten Island do the work she's chosen to do. So, we're putting on this concert to help her change the world, a few lives at a time.
Join us, okay?
Ordinary people... helping ordinary peoople.
Besides... this concert is gonna be alot of fun! Y'know, it's possible to feel GREAT when you're doing something good! You can't fill a theater with that many good people and not feel and extraordinary energy.
