Woke up this mornin', wonderin' if I was gonna head out to Central Park today with my guitar this weekend. A little cold today. But yeah, it looks like tomorrow (Sunday) will be a good one. So, if you're reading this and you live in or around New York City, maybe I'll see you out there at "The Hill" one mo' time.

I know there are a lot of people who check in here from different parts of the country and different parts of the world. But, if you're new here, hit that button over there and browse through the "Archives"... see what we've been up to lately.

There's one thing I'd like to ask you all about.

I've been talkin'to some friends and colleagues about putting out a "Best of..." album... so, that you can have all your favorite songs on one CD, maybe a double CD. If you feel like taking a couple of minutes to let me know which songs you'd like to see on it, that would be great. Maybe someone can start a topic in the "Forum" (message board) over there. (Maybe we'll get it out and actually add a few new songs as bonus tracks, like... "JesusLand" and "Reality TV".) Anyway, think about it.

Well, yesterday an indictment came down for I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby.

For some reason, it inspired me to create a piece of artwork. So that was kinda fun!

But, y'know? I'm not sure what disturbed me most... the fact that it's finally becoming officially recognized that this is a bunch of wholly unAmerican, unprincipled and duplicitous people in this administration, or the fact that a percentage of the country are still too blinded by ideology and stubbornness to admit what kind of people are in the West Wing, and are still willing to rationalize and make excuses for their actions...

...or, that someone named "Scooter" actually worked in the White House.

Anyway, it did inspire a me to get out my pen and pencil and do a little doodling. Here's a piece I call:

.

"Hal E. Burton and His Scooter"

Or... "Mr. Happy Hits a Pothole"

Oh by the way, like the rest of America I learned yesterday that Scooter's first name... is Irving. Pass it on. I think the whole country and everyone in the news oughta start calling him Irving "Fibby" Libby. That'll teach him to lie to a Grand Jury. (Damn! What am I... back in grammar school!?)

Anyway, tomorrow I'll release excerpts from some conversations that I had secretly recorded in the White House. Don't miss it.

.

.

Moving on.

This year the "Year-End Holiday Concert" at Merkin Concert Hall here in New York City is on Saturday night, December 17th. It's only about 7 weeks away. That night is always a great way to send the year out the door. We all sing, laugh... hang together one more time in a really great music hall. Tickets are on sale already. Tell your friends to get their seats sooner than later. There are 450 seats in Merkin, but we have sold it out in the past.

If you've ever been to one of these concerts, you know what I'm talkin' about. And, the tickets are back down to $20. So, start calling a bunch of friends and then call the box office to make sure you get the seats you want, okay? Like I said, it's only about 8 weeks away.

Box office: 212-501-3330

Box Office Hours:
Sunday - Thursday: 12-7pm
Fridays: 12-3pm

And, this is important... would you do me a favor? Would you please click on this logo and visit the...

...website?

And, then click on the "Archives" button over there anbd read yesterday's update. It'll tell you all about this gig, why it's sooooo important, and why we need each and every one of you to be a real part of it.

Yeah, you... reading this right now.

Please help us out with this thing, either with a donation or just by getting tickets and coming to a wonderful event on January 28th. We are going to get real help to the innocent civilians in Iraq, especially the children, whose lives are being torn apart by the war.

So far, here's the lineup for the concert:

Christine Lavin
Roger Bartlett (My pal, "Dodger")
Sam Leopold
George Wurzbach

And, the list is growing. And, we're hoping for some really amazing surprise guests. You can get tickets for this event right now, today, by going to the Peter Norton SYMPHONY SPACE website. EVERY TICKET... ALL THE PROCEEDS ARE GOING DIRECTLY TO THESE GROUPS... ALL OF IT! THE ARTISTS ARE WORKING FOR FREE AND THE PRODUCTION IS BEING PAID FOR WITH OUTSIDE CONTRIBUTIONS!

AND! We also have a very limited number of VIP tickets available. But, if you want to order those and be invited to the reception after the show, you have to contact the Voices Together Group at:

Get VIP Tickets

The VIP section will get all kinds of goodies, and the artists will all hang out at the reception after the gig.

If you wanna help in another really extraordinary way, you can make a donation, right online, and become one of the "producers" of this concert. Really! You will be a concert producer! It's gonna be a special event that you are really gonna feel great being a part of.

To find out more about the reason for this concert, visit the Global Medical Relief Fund website. Then click here to find out more about LIFE... two great groups of people who are helping the injured civilians in this nightmare fo a war in Iraq.

And, oh... listen! If you're new here! Why don't you register in the new "Forum" (message board) while it's still there and jump in there to hang out with people from all over!

And, if you live in or around New York City, maybe I'll see you in the Central Park tomorrow!

Thanks for everything.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
