Hey listen, thanks for another amazing weekend. Seriously, last weekend in both Central Park and at the "Storyteller's Hill" in Riverside Park were really special. And, y'know... that "It's Just Us" feeling is what it's all about. I'm a lucky, lucky man to be able to do what I do for a living.

Damn! I love making music!

Singin' in Central Park

Thanks!

Well, I had a very cool, very unexpected night last night.

A fellow singer/songwriter/friend of mine named Ray Jessel... (Remember Ray? He was the guy who sat in with me as a special guest out in Central Park last summer a few times.) Well, Ray was in town again and he told me about something called "CAST PARTY", thrown by a great guy named Jim Caruso at the legendary "Birdland" in New York City every Monday night.

Ray said I oughta stop in and check it out... maybe ask if I could do a song at this thing. It's a really eclectic open-mike night with some amazing talent on stage... and, some other nice folks, too.

That's Jim on the left with Jon Bon Jovi

It's a blast.

Well, last night I went and had a great time. A really great time. I'm goin'again and again if they'll have me. I decided to spring "JesusLand" on 'em... and, I think they kinda loved it.

By the way, I'm still giving that song away to the world for FREE. If you want a copy of that song just click on the link that says...

...that's it, David! You're goin' to hell! (JesusLand)

Anyway, it really was really very cool. And, I got to speak with singer/songwriter Christine Lavin breifly about the VOICES TOGETHER concert. Hopefully we'll sit down soon over a cup of coffee and I'll convince her to be a real part of it. She's great! If you're not familiar with Christine's music... you oughta be. She's funny, inspiring, insightful... and, a little bit nuts. Last night she... she... well, it had something to do with baton-twirling and... well, let's just say she's a little bit nuts.

Christine Lavin

I am defintiely goin' back again.

.

So, what's goin' on today?

Well, first of all... LET'S GO YANKEES!

Well, I'm gonna head over to Symphony Space to secure that venue for the VOICES TOGETHER Concert in January.

What is VOICES TOGETHER?

A small, but growing, circle of friends, artists, and just plain good people getting together to try to make a difference for the better in this world right now. Y'know, Margaret Meade said...

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

Whether you feel the war in Iraq is a bad thing or... uy... a good thing, (I can't believe I just typed those last 3 words!) - (sigh) ... anyway, it's an undeniable fact that people who are paying the dearest price are the innocent civilians, the ordinary people in that part of the world.

THAT'S the reason for the VOICES TOGETHER Concert.

I hope, whoever you are, that you are willing to support this effort.

What is it?

Uh... Mr. Cheney? Who gets this reconstruction contract?

The answer?

We do.

Ordinary people like you and me. Y'see, caught on the front of the violence in Iraq have been thousands and thousands of innocent people. Ordinary men and women just like you and me. And, thousands of children have been left horribly hurt and orphaned. (Some people don't want to hear that or acknowledge this horror. I know! I've got the emails to prove it!) But, it's undeniable that many, many more fold civilians have been killed and hurt in this war than military. A small group of friends and colleagues got together to form the VOICES TOGETHER GROUP. It is our intention to raise as much money as we possibly can to support two groups of good, good people who are on the ground in Iraq making a real difference in the lives of those whose lives are being torn apart by this war. Bringing them medical help where there is none, offering them a chance to put their lives back together. One woman that we want to support with this concert, Elissa Montanti from Staten Island New York, has made 4 trips to Iraq to bring children hurt in the daily bombings back to a hospital in the States for the medical help they need so desperately. She's an angel. (This summer, she actually brought two children she helped from the other side of the planet to "The Hill" in Central Park for an afternoon of music.)

So, we are putting up the VOICES TOGETHER Concert in January, here in New York City. The whole idea of this gig is this...

ORDINARY PEOPLE (like us)... HELPING ORDINARY PEOPLE (like them).

So... here's your chance to do something really worthwhile today.

Click on this logo, and go to the VOICES TOGETHER website.

...and help us out. Okay?

Make a donation, right online, and become one of the "producers" of this concert. Really! You will be a concert producer! It's gonna be a special event that you are really gonna feel great being a part of.

Of course, we're looking for those huge angels who can afford to send a $5,000 tax deductible donation.... or $1000... or $100... but, ANY amount will help.

$50... $25... whatever you can really afford to give.

And you will ALL be listed on that website as "Producers" of the show... and, in the program that night!

It's important. It's the GOOD thing to do.

Okay, so head to the park today for the announcement of the venue and date. I'll also let you guys know all about it tomorrow here at the website. and, we'll tell you soon when the tickets are gonna go on sale.

You are NOT gonna wanna be sold out of this one!

Well, that's all for today. Hope I see you in Central Park next weekend. And, if you see me on the streets of Manhattan today, say "Hey".

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
