Can I say this?

Yesterday in Central Park... was a nearly perfect day.

Did you feel it? Were you there with me? One song just led to another song. Smile led to smile. Laugh led to laugh. The Sun felt like a best friend. The breeze in the shade was exquisite. I looked deep into the eyes of some of the most beautiful people I have ever sung for in the park. Just a nearly perfect day!

Thank you... thank you all.

Today! Yep! I'm heading into Riverside Park. All the way down by the river's edge, just north of the 79th Street Boat Basin. There's a little hill I call the "Storyteller's Hill". (I actually bring a stool and sit down!) Ha! But, we also talk about music and the songs I've written, the cover tunes I play... the songs you love... music. It's a lot more intimate than the concert in Central Park. I'll probably crank up around 1:00 or 1:30 and hang until around 5:00

Riverside Park - Storyteller Hill

If you stayed in town today, I hope I see you.

Next weekend, weather-permitting, I will be at "the Hill" on Saturday afternoon again. But, the following day... Sunday, September 11... I will be there, too. It's where I belong. So, if you have no idea what to do on an odd day like 9/11, if you don't want to make it just another day, and you don't want to be sullen and morose, but you want to be around warm and loving people, many whom also lived through that day 4 years ago... head on out to the park with me.

Hey! I've been letting you know this for the last few days... but, if anybody has been thinking of buying an extra copy of "Common Ground" or "Crazy on the Same Day" or the single "JesusLand"... for now, go get it from this company, CD BABY... and EVERY NICKEL of my profits goes to the relief effort on the Gulf Coast.

Okay?

And, listen... if you're new here, or reading this in another part of the country or another part of the world, you can take a minute or two to browse through the "Archives" over there today. Even stop in the "Forum" (message board) if you feel like it and say "Hi". You can also email me personally through the "Contact" button.

Cool?

You're also invitied to click on this logo and visit the new website...

...and, find out how you can be a real part of the VOICES TOGETHER concert. Really make a difference for the better in this world. A very real and direct difference.

If you don't know what I'm talking about... this concert is part of a sincere effort to get as much help as we possibly can directly to the innocent civilian families, especially the children, who are living through the war in Iraq.

This is gonna be a very special night, sometime in January here in New York City. And, like I said, you are welcome to be a real part of it. Help us produce this concert so that we can help some very special people who are doing some very remarkable work in that part of the world, okay?

And... it'll feel good to help. And... it'll actually be fun.

Okay... I'm in Riverside Park today. Bring a blanket. Pack a lunch. Bring your love of music and your love of New York City. See you there.

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
