Hey, thanks for stopping by today.
If anybody has been thinking of buying an extra copy of "Common Ground" or "Crazy on the Same Day" or the single "JesusLand"... for now, go get it from this company, CD BABY... and EVERY NICKEL of my profits goes to the relief effort on the Gulf Coast.
Okay?
Now.
I'm sorry. But, nobody else is saying it.
George W. Bush said this morning that the response to this natural disaster has been "unacceptable"... basically that the resources to help the people devastated by the hurricane and secure the area have been too few and too slow. So, I'm not completely sure of the numbers... but, I have a pretty practical question. Where is the local Army Reserve? Where is the National Guard!? Where are all these local men and women who are supposed to suit up and spring into action when a disaster of this magnitude happens?
Oh yeah... Iraq!
C'mon. The New Yorker in me just needs to ask...
.
.
.
"Who's kiddin' who?"
.
(Had to air that out.)
Whew! Okay, let me just give you the musical rundown for this weekend, okay?
I always say I love staying in town on long summer holiday weekends. I really do. The whole town slows down and... ha! So many really annoying people go to the Hamptons! So this Saturday, I will be at "The Hill" in Central Park all afternoon. Really looking forward to it.

"The Hill" in Central Park
Then, on Sunday... I will definitely be at the "Storyteller's Hill" down by the river in Riverside Park. I will start up the music on Sunday around 1:00, okay? Then on Monday, as a favor for a friend... I'm gonna crank up down by the Free Kayaking Dock in Riverside Park, near 71st Street. Just for a while.
Last night, I played a beautiful gig for a bunch of really nice people on board the schooner Pioneer

Hey... if you are staying in town, I really hope you make plans to hang out with me sometime this weekend.
And, just an early heads-up. NEXT WEEKEND... September 11th falls on Sunday. Yeah, I know. I know. Permits. Rules. Yeah, yeah...
.
I WILL be at "The Hill" in Central Park.
.
.
Where else should I be?
.

.
Um... okay, I know there are people reading this in different parts of the country and around the world. If you feel like it, you are all welcome to jump into the "Forum"(message board) over there and say "Hi".
Oh, hey listen... the VOICES TOGETHER CONCERT!
We're just getting started with this effort and it's already really exciting. You can click on this logo and visit the new website...

...and, find out how you can be a real part of it. Really make a difference for the better in this world. A very real and direct difference.
If you don't know what I'm talking about... this concert is part of a sincere effort to get as much help as we possibly can directly to the innocent civilian families, especially the children, who are living through the nightmare of the war in Iraq.
Okay, that's all from me today. I hope I see you this weekend. And, if you see me on the streets on Manhattan today, say "Hey"!
.
.
Thanks for everything.
