Keep on keepin' on... one day at a time.

The trick is not to think of this life as a problem to be solved... but, rather a mystery to be lived.

Ultimately, I just wonder what today is about. Y'know, I haven't met one person who as ever done one of these before... a Tuesday, September 20 2005. This day is unparallelled by any other day in my life. So, it's always something new.

Oh, quick shout!

BUBBA! BUBBA! BUBBA!

Anyone watching th pennant race in the American League East this year!? Last night at Yankee Stadium, a man who never had a walk-off home run in his life, not even in little league, had a BIG one last night. 5'11" Bubba Crosby of the Yankees went "yard" with the second pitch he saw in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Yankees the win. A BIG win.

.

Very cool, Mr. Crosby. Now, the Yankees are a half game out of first with 14 left to play. Good race this year.

Anyway, back to the music. I can tell you this, I'm grateful for all the really good friends and people I have in my life. I'm a lucky man. And, this past Sunday, out in Central Park was just another typical amazing time sharing music with all of you. And, it felt great to have a singer like Kathi Gillmore show up at "The Hill", willing to jump up and sing "I Can't Wait" with me again. Haven't seen her for a long time. But, man! The woman can sang!

Y'know, it's so very cool to have people request the songs that I've written... especially the songs that don't readily pop into the front of my mind very often.... songs like "One Word" and "Just Hafta Trust Me" and "Where's the Voice".

But, it's also very cool to hear people in their late teens and twenties asking me to play Dylan and The Stones. There's more and more of that these days. It's kinda cool. Keeps me wondering, though... where is the next Dylan comin' from? When is the next Neil Young or John Lennon gonna come along... y'know? The social voice of a new generation.

Goodness knows, we need it now.

I was talkin' to somebody on the phone the other day, and I mentioned again how cool it is being able to do what I do, flying under-the-radar for so long. I mean, nobody knows about what I do in Central Park every week... except the few hundred thousand people that know about it. (Truth is, man! I gotta write that book!) But, I swear... if I find the next young voice of reason, I'll bring him or her out to "The Hill" and make them a part of the VOICES TOGETHER Concert in January.

Hey listen... as far as that concert goes. I was backstage at a benefit for the victims of Katrina last week, and I chatted with songwriter Christine Lavin about it. Hoping to talk to Christine again this Monday. Now... we are trying to get another very special artist to join us in this effort. If we do... this powerful and beautiful evening will become even more powerful. Close your eyes and hope that he says, "Yes."

Most importantly, if you are reading this right now... WE NEED YOU TO SHOW UP!

Um... no not only at the concert. We need you to show up now. Please go to the VOICES TOGETHER website right now and make a tax-deductible donation to help us produce the concert in January. You will be listed on the site, and in the program, as one of the concert "producers"... because that is literally what you are. If you can help out in a really significant way, please feel free to email one of us personally through that website, and we'll be happy to meet with you over a cup of coffee someplace.

Cool?

In the meantime, please email me and let me know if you really do want to help out with producing this gig. I will meet you, sit down, and listen to what you think you can bring to the party. Right now, we need to raise about another 20 to 25 thousand dollars. It's so cool... already, the "People on the Hill"... you guys... have raised over $11,000. Maybe we'll find that one or two angels among us who can afford to give $1,000 or $5,000 or more. IT'S ALL TAX-DEDUCTIBLE so that oughta help!

If you don't know what I'm talking about... this concert is part of a sincere effort to get as much help as we possibly can directly to the innocent civilian families, especially the children, who are living through the war in Iraq.

This is gonna be a very special night here in New York City. And, like I said, you are welcome to be a real part of it. Help us produce this concert so that we can help some very special people who are doing some very remarkable work in that part of the world, okay?

And, it'll feel good to help. And... it'll actually be fun.

Y'know what!? Click on this logo and visit the new website...

...and, find out how you can be a real part of VOICES TOGETHER. Really make a difference for the better in this world, when ordinary people here reach out to help the ordinary people of Iraq. Please help make a very real and direct difference. Don't you think it would be so much harder to hate someone if they were bandaging your child's head? Don't you think we'd create one less enemy if we flew somone's wife or brother to the United States to get medical treatment for that leg that was blown off, or those eyes that were so badly burned? It is just the right thing... no... the Good thing to do. There are children being hurt and horribly injured every day in Iraq with nearly no one to help them. Ordinary people... civilians, every day, whose lives are being torn apart by this war.

They need help... period.

We need to raise $25,000 in the next week or so.

Can you help?

Hope so.

Anyway... okay listen. Maybe I'll stop in and see you in the "Forum" later. I might even update this homepage again a little later.

If you see me out in the streets of Manahattan today... say "Hey".

And, check back here everyday. Pass this link onto a friend or two, okay?

From the bottom of my heart...

..thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
