Hey, thanks for coming to this website today.

Check in every day, okay?

Um... this past weekend was one of those really great weekends of music for me. Friday night, "Dodger" Bartlett showed up to sit in at the "Sunset Concert Series" at Pier 45. Then, Saturday in Central Park was one of those golden days. Y'know, I write about that feeling often. I mean, all of the concerts and Saturday afternoons of music are wonderful. But, some of them are just golden. We all sing more openly, laugh more freely... just really "connect"... y'know?

This past Sunday in Central Park was like that. If you were out there... thanks a lot.

Then, it kept going. I woke up yesterday, really conflicted about continuing the music in Riverside Park on Sundays. I mean, alot of the people who sent me emails saying that they were upset by the shift from Saturday to Sunday in Central Park, just weren't showing up for the gigs in Riverside. But, Riverside Park administrator (And, really good guy) K.C. Sahl stopped by in Central Park on Saturday to shake my hand. And, then yesterday morning I kinda got the feeling I oughta put my guitar on my back and head over to a little hill just north of the 79th Street Boat Basin down by the river... y'know, and just quietly see what happens and who shows up. Maybe I'd just play some music for myself and a couple of strangers... which is always cool. Who knows?

But, a bunch of you found me. And also, now a bunch of strangers aren't strangers anymore. The crowd was small but the feeling was huge. If you were there, you know what I'm talking about. It felt like the first of... something. And, that's cool. We all sang. I got to tell a couple of stories about a few of the songs I've written. Told you guys about the benefit cconcert we're planning for January. People of all ages sang the same stuff and were moved by the same songs. Then that young cat, Tyler... I'm guessing he was in his early teens if that, got up and gave us "Pinball Wizard". All very cool.

So, okay. What now? hmmm. What's up for today?

Well, Im heading down to Dodger's studio to lay down a vocal track for a project he's working on. But before that, I've got an awful lotta work to do around this benefit concert.

Hopefully very soon I'll be announcing the location of a new website, specifically dedicated to information about the "Voices Together" concert in January. (I know January seems like a long way off, but when you're planning something like this, January is kinda like next week.)

What is it?

Basically, it will be an intimate but extraordinary songwriters circle at the Hammerstein Ballroom, with some very special artists sharing their music for a vital cause... to get direct help to as many of the innocent civilians, the ordinary people in Iraq, who are being so badly hurt by this war. It will evening of music, laughter, some tears... but, most importantly, it will be a hall filled with good people who care about making a real difference in this world. It will be a room full of people who won't ignore the reality of this war, and who know that, while war is always abhorant and immoral, this war is especially so... and that civilians and children are NOT collateral damage. Somebody's got to take care of them.

"It's just us."

If you wanna get your heart around the spirit of the thing, here's a link to a recent update. Go ahead and click on this link for the update from July 27th. And, then come back and go ahead and click on this link, too.

Click here to get a general idea of what we're planning and why.

I will update you all on the progress of the thing regularly here on the homepage, and my friends and colleagues and I certainly welcome any positive suggestions and comments in the "Forum". I'm really interested in getting as many good people together as I can that actually wanna take some action and do something Good to make a real difference in this world... one child at a time... one heartache at a time. I'll just be one of the people with a guitar on his shoulder.

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
