Wow! Man!

Just got a little tidbit of really encouraging news about the VOICES TOGETHER Concert we're planning for January. I'll let you all know what's going on as it begins to take a more definite shape. But, I can tell you this.... it's gonna be a very special night.

Y'know, sometimes in the later part of a summer afternoon, you can look up at the sky and see the clouds gathering in the west as the Sun is slowly making it's way to join them... and waaaay before it happens, you just know there is going to be a spectacular sunset.

That's what this feels like. Wonderful people with good hearts and a variety of talents are gathering, swirling around each other right now... and, I feel like the ones that are meant to are all going to come together in January for something wonderful.

Now, I'm really trying hard to get a separate website up and running so that you'll be able to check in there everyday to see what's developing and how you can help. Soon, I hope... soon. (I know January seems like a long way off, but when you're planning something like this, January is kinda like next week.) More about the concert and a few personal thoughts a little later... a little further down the page. Some of the recent comments in the "Forum" (message board) have got me thinking.

Anyway listen, if you're new here at this website... welcome!

People from all over the country and different parts of the world stop by here everyday. It's really kinda cool. Glad you're here, too. Take a look through the "Archives" and see what we've been up to around here.

This past weekend was a really kickin' weekend of music for me. Friday night, with Dodger Bartlett sitting in at Pier 45, was a blast. Then, we had an absolutley golden day in Central Park on Saturday!

Then, the start of something new and really kinda cool started in Riverside Park on Sunday. At this point, if you were there... it... um... it almost feels like a new secret location or something, doesn't it?

This weekend... SAME SCHEDULE! Only I hafta tell you, on Saturday in Central Park, we might have a few very, very special guests on "The Hill". (I'll let you know as soon as I know for sure, okay?)

Anyway, listen... quickly, before I get into anything else... um, about the VOICES TOGETHER concert.

What is it?

Basically, it will be an intimate but extraordinary songwriters circle at the Hammerstein Ballroom, with some very special artists sharing their music for a vital cause... to get direct help to as many of the innocent civilians, the ordinary people in Iraq, who are being so badly hurt by this war. It will evening of music, laughter, some tears... but, most importantly, it will be a hall filled with good people who care about making a real difference in this world. It will be a room full of people who won't ignore the reality of this war, and who know that, while war is always abhorant and immoral, this war is especially so... and that civilians and children are NOT collateral damage. Somebody's got to take care of them.

"It's just us."

If you wanna get your heart around the spirit of the thing, here's a link to a recent update. Go ahead and click on this link for the update from July 27th. And, then come back and go ahead and click on this link, too.

Hey, I'll tell you what. All the thoughts I was gonna write here on the homepage? I think I'll just post it in the "Forum" over there. That way, you guys can all chime in if you want.

Howzat!

Okay, see you around town today. And, hopefully you'll make it to one of the gigs this coming weekend to hang out withh me and my guitar for a while.

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
