Hey, thanks for stopping by the website today.

Not really all that much of an update today.

Y'know, I'm more of a reader than a writer in the "Forum" (message boards), but sometimes I gotta say something. Personally, I've been primarily using the "Forum" to post News from Iraq because I promised that I would in the face of the American "news" media's obsession with really important matters like Michael Jackson, Martha Stewart, The Runaway Bride and now Natalee Holloway. But for the most part, I'd rather you guys jump into the "Forum" and speak your minds.

Today, spent part of my morning writing a piece in the "Forum" because I had to get it out... or, I wouldn't be able to clear my mind for the day, and focus on the positive things I have to do. Y'know, music, friends, service... this big-ass concert we're planning for January! (The VOICES TOGETHER concert. More about that later.)

I'm cool, now. Now, I can leave it alone.

Y'know, I've learned in the past couple of years that, whether I'm writing a song or a story, when I aim at the intellect, I run smack into a brick wall. But, if I aim for the heart I very often find a hidden door. (And, if I aim at the funnybone, sometimes I even find a side door!)

But this morning... ah, what the hell... I thought I'd run full speed at that ol' brick wall one mo' time.

Now... back to the music.

I'm working on two new songs. Maybe I'll have them ready for "The Hill" in a couple of weekends. I love bringing new stuff out there. I'm also digging up a couple of cover tunes that I think you guys are really gonna love hearing again. Maybe a really great Bob Seger tune.

"The Hill" in Central Park

Oh hey! Listen, if you are new here... go look through the "Archives" okay? Check out the updates from the past few weeks and get an idea of what we're doing around here. And, if you feel like it, you can jump in the "Forum", too. But, you don't hafta always be talkin' about Iraq and politics and stuff. You can share about music, movies, love, sex, each other... whatever.

Anyway, listen... quickly, before I get into anything else... um, about the VOICES TOGETHER concert.

What is it?

Basically, it will be an intimate but extraordinary songwriters circle at the Hammerstein Ballroom, with some very special artists sharing their music for a vital cause... to get direct help to as many of the innocent civilians, the ordinary people in Iraq, who are being so badly hurt by this war. It will evening of music, laughter, some tears... but, most importantly, it will be a hall filled with good people who care about making a real difference in this world. It will be a room full of people who won't ignore the reality of this war, and who know that, while war is always abhorant and immoral, this war is especially so... and that civilians and children are NOT collateral damage. Somebody's got to take care of them.

"It's just us."

If you wanna get your heart around the spirit of the thing, here's a link to a recent update. Go ahead and click on this link for the update from July 27th. And, then come back and go ahead and click on this link, too.

Okay, see you around town. If you see me on the streets of Manhattan today... say "Hey"!

Okay?

And, hopefully you'll make it to one of the gigs this coming weekend to hang out with me and my guitar for a while. Friday at the "Sunset Concert Series" on Pier 45. Saturday in Central Park, or Sunday in Riverside Park.

Thanks again.

A note from filmmaker Dean Love...

As you may know I am producing a documentary about "That Guitar Man from Central Park". I would like to ask all David's fans out there to write me and tell me any stories you may have about David and his playing in Central Park and how it has affected you or what it has meant to you. I've already heard some great stories, but I know there are more that I haven't heard. So if you got a story to tell about David and his music, please briefly write it out and send it to stories@thatguitarman.com . I will be contacting people from the stories submitted to interview them for possible inclusion in the film. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone on the hill this summer.
